I was in Cabela's in Fort Worth over the week end.  They have a .58 cal Navy Arms rifle that appears to be an 1841.  Brass nose cap barrel bands and patch box for $299.  it is in the Gun Library.

Most likely Kearney would have it brought up so that you could look at it with no committment to buy it.

That may depend on the store...or maybe their policy has changed. I've had a couple shipped between stores and have never been charged. One time I was trying to decide between 2 Krags and they had both shipped in and I bought the one I liked better.

I called them and it sounded like it's a Zuave (sp?), so I'm still in the market.  Thanks anyway!

Keep an eye on Gunbroker.  I've seen a few in the last few months, all under $400 (repro's of course).
Civilize them with a Krag . . .

Yep, that's my plan!  (That Plainsman thing sounds like it could be fun, and I've always liked the Mississippi rifle since I first saw one in the Old West Series "The Mexican War"!)

Turns out my Mississippi turned into an 1853 Enfield.

On seeing it I remembered I swapped the one for the other some years ago.
