Lunch invitation
« on: December 25, 2005, 03:32:52 PM »
Okay, folkses, some of you have been whining about “Oh, poor me.  I gotta work for a living”, sooooo…

…The Inland Empire Chapter (the original and only Chapter) of the Grumpy Lunch Bunch is holding our first ever SATURDAY lunch at 11:00am, Saturday, January 7th 2006 at Osuna’s Mexican Restaurant, 305 East Holt Avenue in Pomona.

Everyone is invited so bring your spice (plural of spouse), significant other, insignificant other, friends, relatives, in-laws, out-laws, co-workers, your boss, and even old Uncle Fudd and join us.

I need a body count by Thursday the 5th so we can be sure to have enough seating.  Let me know at

Gun.slick@juno.com

There is no agenda except for you to met everyone, eat a lot, and have fun.

I’m going to keep this bumped up top so no one has any excuse for not knowing about it.

Black, grab Rowdy and come on out.  Tex, you’re invited, too.  Bring the Wild Bunch with you.  Some of you people in the outlying areas like Solvang, Orange County, L.A. and San Diego, The desert, even Las Vegas, come on down.

Join us.  We dare you!!!

Nobody seems to be showing much interest.  Maybe I over-estimated.

If this one doesn't pan out, there won't be another.  We'll go back to first and third Thursdays.

Drive along East Holt in Pomona and wave some money.  You'll meet someone sure as shootin', or my name isn't Forty Rod.

If you two would stop goofin' off an' head for the airport you could make it with time to spare.

Dear Mr Rod

It is with great pleasure that we were able to be in attendance of your fine luncheon today. We appreciated the recognition and prize for being the last to arrive. I have to state for the record, that if Old Top had not chosen to ride one of them damn camels that he and his corps tend to favour, and having to negotiate the gastly goat trails that Pomona calls roads, we would surely have been the FIRST to arrive. Although, I am sure that the local banditos got a large surprise when they attempted to "camel-jack" Tops choice of conveyance..

That being said, it was a pleasure to meet folks we only had been in mail and telegraph contact with previously. As usual, you were a most pleasant host, (no matter what them other folks said......)

I look foward to dining with you all again soon....And we might even have Camel meat on the menu..... (pssst, don't tell Top I was talkin down his fine military conveyances that he and his outfit think will replace the horse....

yours truely
Curley Cole

'Twas a good turnout.

Sixteen weird and wonderful people (y'all made it weird, me an' my missus made it wonderful) are no longer hungry, have socialized our brains out, and met some new folks.

Had some last minute cancellations and some folks never did chime in, but the food was pretty good, the service was adequate, and the company was grand.

Probably plan on another one in March.  Watch the skies for the Goodyear blimp.  (It won't have a message from us but it is fun to watch.)  I'll be in touch via this site and over on the SASS boarrds.

Thanks to everyone for showing up.

If you'd all like to put in a word here and over yonder, we might get more interest going and have a fantabulistical turn out next time.

Miz Camille,

They didn't (I don't think,) but, iffn ya were to join us, me and Old Top would be happy to whip up a batch...

My Uncle Roy did a long disertation one year (after a bit of Ol' Grandad) on how he felt that Tater Soup was the result of the New Englanders moving west, and since they had no Clams to make their clam chowder, it became tater soup....he was very convincing...
of course I was only a little squirt so most of the family elders were pretty convincing....Now that I am growed.....well guess they were about as full of that stuff as my kids problably think......well, ya knows how it goes...ahaaaaaa

anyways, come and join us...

How do you keep soup in the bowl, food on the plate, an' drrinks in a cup down there?  I'll bet meals are messy.
