I have no clue as to how that would make a difference?
My Badge # 13014. Anyone want it I'd let it go for $5,000, LOL.
Yes, I do have more facial hair now.

My old SASS badge number is 11412.
You Sir, may have it at no cost to you, if you feel you can use it to your advantage.
I don't use it any longer.

Fer Blair...

WOW that's reeel kind of ya pard but I aint after a lower # I`m 45422 and quite happy with that. Like I mentioned, I thought I had read that some SASS badges were being flogged to pards who wanted a lower # `spose it would make `em seem more important in some way ore another.

How true!
Twenty six years ago I got the license plate number HAWGG for my Harley for nothing except the extra $25.00 personalized plate fee. Don't exactly know how true this is but a few years later I read that someone paid $2500 for the rights to the license plate number HOG

I'm perfectly happy with SASS #70670

I always thought the higher the number, the more important.  SASS 88462, don't see what difference a number makes.  Guess, they could try to pass themselves off as being in SASS longer???  Usually late to everything, but dinner. ;D

Going back maybe ten years (???), there was a period of time during which you could get an older 4-digit number by signing up as a life member.  I guess that lasted until they ran out of those saved-up numbers.

I've seen SASS badges for sale on ebay.  I was under the impression those had belonged to folks who had left the sport or deceased and were probably being bought by badge collectors rather than folks who wanted a lower number on their chest.  But I guess there could be some of the latter, too.

Ya know, they recently passed #100,000.  I always thought they'd save that one to present to the next conservative president, but that particular badge number is going to be auctioned off by SASS.

I just signed up, my badge number is 99920.  If I had started when I wanted to (1990) I wonder what my badge number would have been.

I let it lapse, though, when I became an NCOWS Life Member.

I let my SASS membership expire a while back but still have my old badge.  Can I sign up for a membership using my old badge/# or do I have to start up with a new #?

I only have my experience to go by... I first joined SASS in the early 90's  had number # 6915 .....I got away for a while reenacting , I let my membership lapse for a few years.
I went to pay up again in 2000...and could not get the system to accept my Alias " That Alias was not available " or "taken" or some such...
I didn't bother to pursue it I just altered my Alias, paid and rejoined, and got a new number.
# 26799 .... never really put any store in the number  :-\
I have both badges ...
when planets align...do the deal !

Howdy Capt.,

You keep you member number. You may need to adjust you alias. Give the SASS office a call and they will set you up.

If you were buying a lower number to somehow look more important at SASS events, wouldn't you be using, aka stealing an identity???  It's wrong.  Just wrong.  :-[  The number represents a certain person's membership.  If it ain't you, you shouldn't be pretending to be him/her.  There ought to be a rule for misrepresenting IMHO.
