I Need A Taller ROA Front Sight Blade
« on: April 14, 2007, 09:46:03 PM »
The front sight blade on my ROA is too low and I need a taller one. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement?

Thanks - OldWolf

Is it screwed on or soldered?
Blue or stainless?
I may have one (patridge type).

The gun is SS but the front sight is blued. The ramp is SS too. The front blade is held in with a pin. I am pretty sure the ramp is soldered, I'll have to check. Thanks.

I will do some checkin'.
The last K-ROA I had here (adjust sight version) had a blued front that was 3/8" high and blued rear sight assy.
It had a single screw that held the front base of the ramp to the barrel.  I don't recollect the thread size.

See if'n yours ain't the same.
That's the one I have.

In this dark photo you can see the sight on my 1982 OA has a taller sight than my 1994 OA on the right.

The short one is .285" and the tall one is .395". Both are pinned.

Would someone with a stainless Blackhawk 45LC 4-5/8" barrel tell me what the height is of the front sight please? I have heard that these are pretty tall and that I might be able to use one of them on my ROA.

Thanks - Oldwolf

You can probably get that info from Ruger at Southport too.  ???
Good luck with the search!

I think my problem is solved. If you have a ROA and are interested, follow this link over to another Ruger Forum.
