Online Purchase?
« on: November 26, 2007, 09:21:24 AM »
Howdy,
Anyone out there make a purchase through GunBroker.com?
I've been looking over a few listings they have and was just wondering how well it works.

Thanks,
JJ

Read Gunbroker's instructions thoroughly - they explain the mechanism well.

In short - you need either an FFL or Curio and Relic license to buy firearms - and though 'most' dealers don't require the same for 'antique' or Black Powder guns - some do.

They do this to 'completely' cover themselves - regardless of what the law may say with regard to purchases - and arguing is usually futile.

Some dealers won't ship to a C&R - even if the piece in question is eligible - and for the above reason.

Stay away from anyone who won't offer an inspection/return period - three days is standard.

'You' will pay whatever shipping - and if you're not a dealer - 'you' will pay his fee for the transfer and processing.

Factor that into your purchase price and see if you'd cheerfully pay 'that' if you saw the identical piece on a gun show table.

If you would - and you've won the bid - you're in business.

Good Luck.

Howdy Jersey Rebel,

I just bought my 3rd gun off of Gunbroker.  The first two experiences were just fine.  I use a Postal money order since the PO inspectors will help deal with fraud.  I have been happy with my purchases.  Just bought a Beretta Laramie, well under list price and don't expect any trouble on this one either.   Look at the vendor rating and if it is A or A+ you should be just fine.
