The Millenium's will handle any SAAMI loads meant for SAA Colts, but not anything in realm of super duper Ruger type loads. They're the same as the regular Uberti's, just without the high polish for the finish..........Buck 8) ::) ;)

I found on Cabella's "Cowboy" loads in 200+ grains. How are thses different than the .45 cal ammo I find at my local Gander MT? They look like a jacketed .45 auto ammo? Thx.

Has to be lead for CAS. .45 LC CAS loads have usually either 250's or 200's. A .45 Schofield is about the same length as a .45 ACP, but again still have to be all lead. You looking in a catalog? If so, maybe it's a misprint............Buck 8) ::) :-\

Are you comparing the .45 ACP bullet to a .45 S&W (schofield) bullet or the cases?  The Schofield case is significantly longer, but all four cartridges (.45 ACP, .45 Auto-Rim, .45 Colt and .45 S&W) can use the same bullets if reloading for them.  I commonly shoot bullets meant for .45 ACP out of .45 Colt cases.

:D  If you are looking for lighter .45 loads, ammodirect.com has 200 grain, 180 grain and 160 grain in lead round nose flat point.

I have an Uberti Millenium and just love it.  It really likes the Ultramax 200 & 250 ammo from Cabela's (I do too, as it's less than $15 a box!).

You also don't need to be stuck with that "matte blued" factory finish either.  I antiqued mine and added some faux stag grips from Western & Wildlife Wonders.  Have a look!

John that antiquied finish looks great.  How was it done?
I was looking into getting one of these revolvers too and yours just sold me on it.

Thanks EG!

Here is the thread that pretty much explains what I did to get the finish where it is:

Quick question for Uberti Millenium/Cabelas owners.

Is the backstrap/trigger guard brass (looks anodized) or plated over steel? I am thinking of polishing it and taking off the sharp edges.

Also, what screwdriver do you recommend for taking the gun apart? (size flathead that works the best)

I am going to "antique" one I just purchased and see how it goes. If it works out alright, I will pick up a second one and do it as well.

I might just switch to 45lc for all main match guns... ;)

Dakota- The grip frame is solid brass.  It's just not polished to a high luster.

According to the local gun dealer who sells a lot of Ubertis, most (if not all) of the Uberti SAA's have brass grip frames, but some have a special "blued" finish that make them look like steel.

I have a pair of them but they aren't numbered sequentially. One thing I've noticed is that one of them has a taper from the bottom (where it joins the barrel) to the top of the front sight, the other has straight sides all the way up.

I was told this is because Milleniums start out their lives to be Cattlemen ubtil there is something that excludes them, then they're "bumped" down to the Millenium line. The way it was explained to me it sound as though Milleniums are effectively "seconds".

They still shoot great. The first one I bought, after a good cloeaning & about 500 rounds through it has a 2.5 pound (crisp)  trigger pull, the other has a 3.5 pound pull. That's pretty fair for a stock gun! My gunsmith tells me that with an action job, they'd be better than what the original cowboys had.

I took my backstraps to the buffer (& the Dremel tool) & polished up the brass & also took off all the sharp edges. I also had to do a little fitting on the grips on both guns to get them the way I wanted.

All in all, I'm impressed, I'm proud to carry my Ubertis.

BTW - I found my Milleniums at the local Gander Mountain for 279.00, and was able to carry them home after the waiting period. Cabela's charges S&H, plus a transfer fee at your local gun dealer (Gander mountain charges $25.00 & they're on the cheap end). My advice would be try & find them locally (and order your accessories from Cabella's with the money you save)

Take Care,
Shooting straight means never having to say you're sorry.

I got my first one at the new Cabelas in Rogers, MN.

I'll check out Gander. (its closer to home anyhow)

The Millenium I got has "Cabelas, Sidney NE" stamped on top of the barrel.

I'll bet they had a cosmetic flaw that prevented them from becoming a first line Uberti.  Bead blasting easily covers up flaws before bluing and probably is cheaper than spending the time and labor to fix it to make it a first line gun.

I was gonna suggest the same thing, some sort of finish prep problem that is easier to bead blast to cover up.......Buck 8) ;)

I have two of them. After taking the flat back off of the I found that one of them had a light oittung in the barrel and the frame, the other one was clean. Don't know if this any.
