MILTON — They strap on their six- shooters, mount their trusty steeds and give a tip of their cowboy hats to Roy Rogers, Dale Evans and John Wayne.
Cowboy movies and TV shows aren’t part of the daily cultural narrative these days, but their inspiration is still there.
The Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association and the Single Action Shooting Society let the Old West live on with real six-guns a-blazin’ and horses charging.
“We used to run around as children playing with cap guns. Now, it’s for real,” said Dan Scripter, better known around in local cowboy campfires as Smokehouse Dan.
