Venita Ardell Chamberlain, age 81, of Severy, Kansas, passed away July 5, 2020 at her home with family by her side.  She was born July 1, 1939 in Kendall, Kansas to Charles and Bernita (Marietta) Pepper.

Venita grew up alongside four siblings, attending schools in Satanta, Kansas.  On October 18, 1986, she married Dale Chamberlain in Severy, Kansas, and they were married 31 years until his passing in 2017.

Venita raised small breed dogs.  She enjoyed reading and loved putting a scrapbook together for every grandchild and great-grandchild of hers.  She was a big KU fan and even decorated a couple of rooms in the house with KU memorabilia.  Most of all, she loved her family.  Her kids and grandkids were her life.

Venita was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Severy, Kansas, the Cosmos Club, and the Nazarene Women's Bible Study.

Venita is survived by her children, Shawn Shepherd of Rock, Kansas, Sherrie Bunyard of Severy, Kansas, Karen Swint of Udall, Kansas, and Mary Scott of Leon, Kansas; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; her brother, Verle Pepper of Moline, Kansas; and her sisters, Violet Lightly of Severy, Kansas and Vera Greene of Ulysses, Kansas.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; her brother, Grant Pepper; and her sons, Wayne Shepherd, Mike Shepherd, and Gary Chamberlain.

Cremation has been requested.  A memorial service was held on July 19, 2020 at Countryside Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas.  Memorial contributions in Venita's name can be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Foundation and may be mailed to or left with the funeral home.   Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Kansas 67349.
