John is survived by his wife, Lucille Jean of the home in Grove; his stepson, Lynn Huffstetler of Wichita, Kansas; and a sister, Ardith Battershell of Columbia, Missouri.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jim Wene; and a sister, Verona Olson.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, September 16, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 1005 Leisure Road, Grove, Oklahoma with a reception to follow.  Pastor Randy Hamill will officiate, and Masonic Rites and Military Rites will be carried out.  Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church in John's name.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Nichols-Stephens Funeral and Cremation Services, 10201 U.S. Highway 59, Grove, Oklahoma 74344.
