It missed us. It tore up the beaches, but didn't rain a drop here west of the shore. The pool party yesterday had perfect weather and so far it's cool and sunny here today. We have another get together later today up in Amish country. That should be fun. Enjoy.

We survived our local primaries and I'm happy to say got rid of a couple of disgusting people who have totally outlived their usefulness, if they ever had any. One is a real crook and blackmailed anyone who stood up to him. I'd love to be a fly on the wall in his offices today. Ha! They must have a huge fire going to burn the books and are busy scrubbing the computers.
Several personal friends won their primaries, so I'm pleased. We have another hot day today, above 90 again and very dry.Cooler weather has to come sometime.

It has been nice all week here.

I hoped this would never happen during my lifetime, but it finally did. One of our Aetna volunteer firefighters, Jerry Fickes, who is a paid career firefighter for the City of Wilmington lost his life along with another firefighter early this morning at a house fire in Wilmington. He was a good friend for many years.I have no tears left.

Thank you. It's very hard.We are doing everything we can to help the families, help cover their runs and dealing with our own grief too.Tough times.

So sorry for you guys. The fire (and loss) made it into the Wichita Eagle. :( Prayers for all of you!

Thank you. I really appreciate the thoughts and prayers. Jerry was a good friend for many years. His family were some of the first to bring their kids to the Aetna kids' Christmas party many years ago when we first started it. We had a crew that went to Wilmington this morning to escort his body, along with Wilmington firefighers also, to the funeral home from the Medical Examiners Office.I'll check your paper for the article .Thanks for telling me.

Slowly but surely funeral plans are being made. Two viewings, two funerals on Thursday and Friday and a huge combined memorial service at the Blue Rocks Baseball stadium in downtown Wilmington, with public safety people from all over the country coming on Saturday. Tears still come very easily for all of us.
