COMPETING WITH CHINA

Obuma keeps telling us that we need to get our Socialism on to be able to better compete with China.  But is that really a wise idea?

China’s economic ills are far more deeply rooted: an overbearing state squandering capital and squeezing out the private sector, systemic inefficiency and lack of innovation, a rapacious ruling elite interested solely in self-enrichment and the perpetuation of its privileges

It's almost as if we're a little too much like China already under Obuma.

 Han Zhiguo, an economist with more than 2.5 million followers on Sina Weibo, offered a sarcastic tweet calling the whole matter a "Chinese miracle:"

    1. The bridge was slated to be built in three years but was actually finished in 18 months. Such progress can be called a “Chinese miracle.”

    2. The bridge collapsed after it has been opened to traffic for 8 months. Such quality of construction can be called a “Chinese miracle.”

HURRICANE CHICAGO


10 people were wounded in shootings across Chicago last night.  28 more have been wounded.  Over the weekend, 9 people were killed in Chicago and 37 were wounded.

More Americans were shot this weekend in Chicago than in Afghanistan.  That makes Obuma’s hometown an official war zone.  Hurricane Isaac has not killed any Americans.  The same can’t be said for Hurricane Chicago

When Romney spoke out against the move, Obuma said, "“Maybe the steam engine is more his speed”

The Reuters said State Veterinarian Taylor Woods told them they could get a free permit to exempt them from the law and allow them to be a garbage-feeding swine operation. The permit process would include several inspections of the farm each year. The Reuters said Woods told them he would send a government veterinarian to their farm to inspect the property and clear them for the permit.

Build massive supertankers? Hell we can barely run farms anymore. If the American colonists had disembarked to this kind of nightmare, there would be no America. All of America would be Croatoa.

When you need a permit to feed your own vegetables to your own pigs and you can't get that permit, how in the world are you going to build a supersonic plane?

We have inventions sitting around that could change the world. We have working technologies that can never be deployed. We have supercompounds that could revolutionize everything but we aren't going to use them to do anything bigger than make a newer and better smartphone and that will be done in Asia, even if the design is carried out here.

We could do great things, but we are not in the great things business. We are in the big government business. And this isn't just a Federal phenomeon, it exists at every level from the county on up.

We don't make ships or planes, we make inspectors and government buildings and rules and committees that debate the new third quarter 2013 rules that will go in effect and require the hiring of 10,000 more inspectors nationwide to enforce the new rules and trainers to train the inspectors and human resources people to manage the trainers and new buildings to house all that morass of parasites.

And then a politician will get up, put his hand on his heart, stand next to the flag and tell us that we need to sink another trillion into the whole system if we want to ever be able to compete with China.

Because folks how are we ever going to compete with China if people aren't going into debt to graduate from college to get jobs in human resources to take care of workplace disputes involving the managers of the inspectors who make sure that no one feeds vegetables to a pig?

I HAVE A DREAM


The latest nightmare entertained me with the idea that Franklin D. Roosevelt's Secretary of State, Cordell Hull, who held that office from 1933 to 1944, was being influenced by a deputy chief of staff by the name of Karl Fynn Abercrombie. The nightmare wasn't that specific. It came and went in a flash, too quickly to contemplate in any detail. But some of the faces were familiar, as well as the style of dress of the 1940's, and I recall peering into a dimly lit House of Representatives. In the dream, investigations were indeed initiated, and Congress and America learned to their collective dismay that Karl Flynn Abercrombie was none other than Karl Kluge, a Nazi spy, and that Hull knew it. As did FDR.

1.Obama's Chicago house will be sold soon.
2.The Obamas are planning to move to Kailua, HI.
3.Michelle's mom says the estate that they will buy is worth $35 Million.
4.Only one property in Kailua matches that description.

Barack and Michelle Obama will be moving to Hawaii in January of 2013 and preparations are now being made to purchase an estate in close proximity to land owned by the University of Hawaii, where the Obama presidential library and “political center” will be located.

I have a friend whose family knows Michelle’s mother; they have been crystal clear that the elderly Mrs. Robinson regularly says that she’ll be in Hawaii next year permanently with her daughter and granddaughters. I hate to say this but, 35 million dollar places in Hawaii aren't rare. That photo might indeed be it, but it wouldn't be uncommon. The ground is so valuable there they commonly tear down beautiful multi million dollar homes just to build even more impressive, more expensive homes ,or buy two huge places and tear them down just to have more land to build one huge one on. It is just mind boggling.

The founders of Atheism+ say clearly that “divisiveness” is not their aim, but looking through the blogs and voluminous comments in the two weeks since A+ was mooted, trenches have been dug, beliefs stated, positions staked out and abuse thrown.  A dissenting tweeter is “full of shit”, while, according to one supporter, daring to disagree with Atheism+’s definition of progressive issues and not picking their side makes you an “a**hole and a douchebag”.

It took 700 years from Constantine renaming Byzantium in his own honour to papal legates circulating letters of anathema that split the Roman and Orthodox churches. Atheism, in its public, online life, has started exchanging internet anathemas.... perhaps we should call them inathemas... in little more than a decade.

Well, they do fashion themselves progressive... and so, they’re progressing apace.

It can’t be easy deciding what not to believe in.  So many things to reject, so little time.  And who is to decide what’s not true and what’s merely a matter of negative conjecture?  How skeptical is one allowed to be about skepticism before one has transgressed the boundaries of orthodox nonbelief?

For example, if I say I do not believe in God, does that mean I do not believe in the God other people who believe in God believe in?

Or does it mean I do not believe in God the way some people believe in Barack Obuma or the infield fly rule?

Or does it mean I believe there is no God, which makes me a believer in something, namely, that there is no God.  But doesn’t that require proof of a negative?

And the crapulous tone of some of their tonier crap!

Fellow Freethought blogger Richard Carrier goes further.  When one commentator suggests “atheism does not have the luxury of kicking people out of its movement”, Carrier gives him a rare old quilting in most splendid prose:

“Yes, it does. Atheism+ is our movement. We will not consider you a part of it, we will not work with you, we will not befriend you. We will heretofore denounce you as the irrational or immoral scum you are (if such you are). If you reject these values, then you are no longer one of us. And we will now say so, publicly and repeatedly. You are hereby disowned.”

come on.... disowned?  Oh the humanity... to be displaced when one is already lost in the cosmos.  Where does that leave one?  Trapped in humanism’s cecum awaiting expulsion like yesterday’s fajita.

Before these amateur Übermenschen start engaging in some Great Purge, I suggest they hold a council of some kind and choose a “universal atheist” to have final say on contentious issues, like whether to treat women badly at conventions, or whether to use only unionized labor when building labor camps for the heterodox.

You know.... stuff like that.

I would spare my atheist friends the tumult of a full-blown civil war.   Because, as the saying goes, there are no atheists in foxholes.  Only foxes.  But that’s sexist.
