Politics / Re: Sheriff Election

I have no idea Bull but I'm sure more than I can even lift today and then climbing mountains like Hill 1103 which means it was 1,103 meters high. I wasn't there long before I volunteered to be a radioman. The "prick twenty five" radio weighed 23.5 lbs, then a couple of batteries---the M-16 rifle—13 loaded magazines---2 bandoleers of ammo—at least 4- M-26 grenades---13 canteens(which were rarely all full)—chow---C-4---det cord---- etc ---oh Lordy, my back hurts just thinking of it. Thanks Bull for getting me in trouble with Wilma for straying from the thread.  :D
Mike, if all that weight on a belt hurts your back then I would imagine this 50 lb spare tire I carry around my waist might cause pat of my back pain. ;D
Back to the thread---I have heard people ask, they wonder if you are elected sheriff if you plan on keeping the current deputies and dispatchers or will you get rid of them all and put "your people" in the positions ?

Mr. Cordell.
If elected sheriff how many full time deputies do you plan on employing ?
I remember years ago that Lloyd Ford was the sheriff and had one sheriff's vehicle. A two door car. His deputy was a mechanic named Eubanks and Eubanks was only on duty when Lloyd needed him to help with an arrest, and he would strap on his gun and badge and hang a sign on his business that he would be back at so and so time.If that is incorrect maybe some old timer will correct me. The speed limit back then in Elk county was 70 MPH so more a chance of wrecks, than today.I'm sure the population of the county was more people too.
Do you think the sheriff's dept. needs all the expensive 4x4 pick-up trucks that they have and as many deputies ?
Thank you in advance for your answer.

 Quote from Diane"
I had a major in elementary education and a double minor in art and music. I also was an EMT instructor, took Cardiac Rescue Tech. and was asked to become a Paramedic. I had already chosen my profession so i said no.( If I wanted to do that I could have gone to medical school) I loved teaching and was very good at it.

Bull, yes indeed, it is pretty amazing for one who was never an EMT or paramedic or so she told us.I know—I know--- "you started riding  in the ambulance".after you had to quit teaching after two years and found you had a chalk dust allergy.
Why hell, I flew several times in a CH-46 helicopter but I never did think that made me a pilot !!!

Sorry Charlie. I stated how I felt and now you want me to go down in the gutter fighting with you ?? As for me spending any time looking up how you jab the folks of Elk county in the eye---trust me---it was easy. That was pretty much just what you said in one day and I saved it in "drafts ' so must of taken me a good 15 seconds. I am not sure where you thought it was only  Ross who was told to back off. Are you sure that wasn't directed at you more than it was Ross ?
It takes two to tango so I sit here wondering why I replied----guess I ant the only one who doesn't know when to just shut the hell up, already.

Bull....Bite me!
Cave people aren't nearly as funny
Yes, I'm pissed
I forgot about Ross.(Why does Charles Manson come to mind?)
Red, ooooh, you are SO scary. I might have ta' get out my 38 and clean it
how backward and immature some Elk Countians can be
This is retort to some smart Alecs
If you don't see that as at least as valuable as cutting lawns for free then to H...with you.
so stuff it ya big dummy
So go ahead be a sour puss
You just aren't up to it mentally or emotionally.
your unnecessary smarty mouth comment
You are indeed a fool
Patriot go sit in a meat grinder.

Above are just a few of the insults Diane has thrown at Elk Countians. Then she went ahead and called the people of Elk County "corn pones " Told us she could shoot us all and not face charges. The above statement about cleaning her .38 I take as a back door threat. Should Ross have called her a bitch ? Probably not but maybe she should quit acting like one. I am not sticking up for Ross because I get just as tired of him beating a dead horse all the time too but guess what ? Don't read it if you don't like what he says. Is that so hard to do ? I see once again a person that doesn't even live here has stated---again---he wishes Kjell and Teresa would shut the forum down. That's just great----a place a lot of us locals get our county information and "foreigners "want it shut down because one person gets under their skin . I am starting to think there are several who have no skin in the game whatsoever are just stirring the pot to try to get Teresa to close up shop. Sad !!!!!

The only inspections that I recall ever having is when I've bought a couple of trucks with a wrecked /salvage title. Then it's done by a highway patrolman and pretty much just making sure the VIN is correct.

This is probably of no interest to anyone but ol WARPH but seeing as I'm "blocked" by several readers he might be the only one that reads it anyway. :D

This aired this past week on Fox and Friends. At the end the guy getting his dog tag back gives the other guy a copy of "Matterhorn:A Novel of the Vietnam War " and says the book is written by a college classmate of his. The author is Lt Karl Marlantes who had been the 1st platoon, commander and later XO of the company I so proudly served in. Now we find out the guy getting his dog tag returned is Rick Tilgman who had been a platoon commander himself but after being wounded twice he was made an air observer, riding back seat in a Bronco recon plane. In one particular battle for a hill , the plane he was in flew round and round  "chopper hill " while Tilgman was radioing machine gun positions to the troop (s ) on the ground. The troop on ground used that info to take out a machine gun position and at least another bunker, by himself, earning the Navy Cross for valor and that was Lt. Marlantes .
Of coarse back then they didn't know that ol college classmates were even talking to each other on the radio. I tell you ,my beloved Corps is a small world and seems like we were always intertwined one way or the other.

Waldo if it wasn't for you  and Karen Posting the Obituaries the Forum wouldn't  be worth looking at.

You ask why people don't post anymore but if people think their posts aren't worth looking at, maybe that is why some quit.
I too enjoy Waldo's posts but there are so many more—especially Warph with his wit and wisdom---and the ol Bull Moose and the list goes on
