Politics / Coulter on Obama
February 26, 2009, 03:32:28 PM

Ann Coulter has a good one entitled"The Cal Ripken president".
She makes some good remarks about public education
(aka government schools) too.

Politics / Republicans: Repent!
February 20, 2009, 12:15:27 PM

Since Lincoln, the Republican party has changed America.  And the
Democrat party has changed itself by plunging into Republicanism.

Most likely, the Republican party will not repent or change,
but here's an article by Ilana Mercer that's worth reading:

Politics / More on Lincoln
February 18, 2009, 12:11:47 PM
Lately, there's been a lot of publicity about Abe Lincoln and most of it is one-sided.
Yet, there's another side that the Lincoln cultists and most educators never tell.
Dr. Thomas DiLorenzo has written two good books entitled "The Real Lincoln" and "Lincoln Unmasked".
Here's a good video of an interview with Dr. Thomas DiLorenzo about Abe Lincoln.

Dr. Thomas Sowell

Random thoughts on the passing scene:

One of the most important skills for political success is the ability to make confident assertions of absurdities or lies.

The adage "follow the money" will be hard to apply in the current administration, when there is so much money going in all directions that it is doubtful whether anybody can follow it.

I hate to hear about "partnerships" between government and business, or between government and other organizations. When there is a partnership between an ant and an elephant, who do you suppose makes the decisions?

There are too many people, especially among the intelligentsia, who will never appreciate the things that have made this country great until after those things have been destroyed— with their help. Then, of course, it will be too late.

How can a President of the United States be re-elected in a landslide after four years when unemployment never fell below 15 percent for even one month during his first term? Franklin D. Roosevelt did it by blaming it all on the previous administration. Barack Obama may be able to achieve the same result the same way.

Can you name the only baseball player to bat .382 in his last year in the major leagues? The first five readers who can will receive a free copy of my new book, "Applied Economics."

Do you want to have to jump through bureaucratic hoops when you are sick? If not, why would you be in favor of government-run medical care?

Politics / Moving Back To Uncle Sam's Plantation

Looks like black lady Star Parker writes another good one.

NEW YORK – As the Obama administration attempts to push through Congress a nearly $1 trillion deficit spending plan that is weighted heavily toward advancing typically Democratic-supported social welfare programs, a rebellion against the growing dominance of federal control is beginning to spread at the state level.

So far, eight states have introduced resolutions declaring state sovereignty under the Ninth and Tenth Amendment to the Constitution, including Arizona, Hawaii, Montana, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, Oklahoma and Washington.

Analysts expect that in addition, another 20 states may see similar measures introduced this year, including Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Nevada, Maine and Pennsylvania.

"What we are trying to do is to get the U.S. Congress out of the state's business," Oklahoma Republican state Sen. Randy Brogdon told WN.

Politics / Why Did This Happen?

DiLorenzo

Let us briefly review some of the more notorious behavior of the federal government in recent years that has spawned the current economic crisis. First, every law and government agency having anything to do with housing policy, from HUD to the Fed, FDIC, Comptroller of the Currrency, Office of Thrift Supervision, enforcers of equal-lending laws, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the Community Reinvestment Act, Congress, and more, did everything possible to force or bribe mortgage lenders into making trillions of dollars of bad loans to unqualified "subprime" borrowers. Among the various rationales that were given for this monumentally stupid policy were "discrimination," which the Fed admitted there was no evidence of when confronted by Forbes journalists Peter Brimelow and Leslie Spencer in the 1990s. Banks and mortgage lenders made trillions of dollars of bad loans as the Fed assured them that the risk could be swept away when Fannie and Freddie "securitized" the loans and sold them. And there was always an implicit (wink, wink) promise of a bailout if worse came to worse (as it did).

Politics / Ron Paul vs Obama
January 02, 2009, 12:09:47 PM

The election is over but here's an audio by Walter Donald Kennedy that I received.  It must be 6 or more months old but he outlines some good American ideals in line with our founding fathers.  Is Ron Paul radical?  It's well worth the listening time.

Politics / The Lincoln Gambit

Just read a good one from LewRockwell.com about Lincoln.  More confirmation that our Founding Fathers were right on.
Will Obama be greater than Lincoln?  Pretty good read.
