The Coffee Shop / Re: Wind farm conversation

I haven't posted in more than a year, but wanted to stop by and add my compliments to the good people of Elk County who participated in the Community Conversation on Tuesday night in Moline. I work with lots of communities, but none so filled with neighborly people like those who live in Elk County. Fact is, I don't know of another county where such kind-mannered, thoughtful, open discussions would have drawn more than 250 people. I'm so proud to be a part of Elk Konnected. If I were younger, I'd move there!

You have nothing to fear, Larry. Janet is right --- as long as you're not taking someone else's work to make money with it, nobody will object.

Besides, the internet is full of pick-up quotes and articles.

The planet has bigger worries than arresting Larry. :police: ;D

If you follow the rule of attorneys general, then it would be titties-mice.
But then hard breathing would ensue and this forum already has enough of that. LOL

The Coffee Shop / Re: What Are You Reading?
November 04, 2010, 05:29:32 PM
I just finished reading "Obama's Wars" by Bob Woodward. It is a deep but fascinating account of the Afghan war and the political wars within the White House regarding the war. It's not a political book --- probably appealing mostly to nerds like me, and to anyone with a military background. I now am reading a wonderful book, "Aspire," by Kevin Hall, on the importance of words and their usage in one's daily life.

Nothing compares to views of the sky which offers millions of perspectives, hues, lighting variations and three-dimensional objects. And if that sky happens to centered right over the Flint Hills of Kansas --- it's just heavenly.

It was a nice experience to meet Flo at Maria's Mexican Restaurant in Independence tonight. What a delightful lady!

The Coffee Shop / Re: Delaware Annual Powwow

I've attended the Delaware Pow-Wow many times and it always inspires me. I feel terrible that it's only located seven miles south of my home and we haven't been there for at least 20 years.  I highly recommend it.  Don't expect a gymnasium or big convention center. This place is back in the woods, and the sound of those drums can be heard echoing through the trees and pathways as you approach the ceremonial grounds.
