The Coffee Shop / Interesting

I see since Ross left the forum, no one has anything to say. I guess if you can't kick someone to the ground all the time, it is no fun.

The Coffee Shop / Senate Moran
July 05, 2016, 12:46:20 PM
I see that Senate Moran is going to be in Howard. Everyone needs to look up how many time he voted with Obama. He has on occasion not stood beside the state of Kansas. The sad things is, there is no one that is running against him. It makes me want to vote for the other side.

The Coffee Shop / Events in Howard, Ks
August 12, 2014, 11:11:55 AM
I read the Howard forum to find out who has passed away and what events are going on in the county. We own property and a house in Howard but live in Shawnee County. We stopped taking the Sedan Newspaper aka Prairie Star  because there was nothing in there about things happening in Howard. So I thought people would put things on here like the Fair, scores from all the sports, the dates of the garage sales and the Fab Find on Hiway 99. But so far all there has been is people that are upset about everything. It would be nice if someone would start a thread on EVENTS, so when people come from out of town they know what is going on before they get there. Just my opinion!!!!!!  ::) I know there is a General events but no one used until the Severy Labor Day was put on.

Politics / Something to think about
July 20, 2014, 11:10:00 AM
This was sent to me so I do not know where it came from.

The definition of the word Conundrum is: something that is puzzling or confusing.

Here are six Conundrums of socialism in the United States of America:

1. America is capitalist and greedy - yet half of the population is subsidized.

2. Half of the population is subsidized - yet they think they are victims.

3. They think they are victims - yet their representatives run the government.

4. Their representatives run the government - yet the poor keep getting poorer.

5. The poor keep getting poorer - yet they have things that people in other countries only dream about.

6. They have things that people in other countries only dream about - yet they want America to be more like those other countries.

Think about it! And that, my friends, pretty much sums up the USA in the 21st Century.

Makes you wonder who is doing the math.

These three, short sentences tell you a lot about the direction of our current government and cultural environment:

1. We are advised to NOT judge ALL Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics. Funny how that works.

And here's another one worth considering...

2. Seems we constantly hear about how Social Security is going to run out of money. How come we never hear about welfare or food stamps running out of money? What's interesting is the first group "worked for" their money, but the second didn't. Think about it.....

and Last but not least,

3. Why are we cutting benefits for our veterans, no pay raises for our military and cutting our army to a level lower than before WWII, but we are not stopping the payments or benefits to illegal aliens.  Plus we continue to send our money to foreign countries who hate us.

Am I the only one missing something?

Miscellaneous / Funny
August 25, 2011, 09:28:14 PM
This joke was sent to me from a friend.

I was eating lunch on the 20th of February with my 7 year-old granddaughter and I asked her, "What day is tomorrow?"
She said, "It's President's Day!"
She is a smart kid.
I asked, "What does President's Day mean?"
I was waiting for something about Washington or Lincoln ... etc.
She replied, "President's Day is when President Obama steps out of the White House, and if he sees his shadow we have one more year of unemployment."
You know, it hurts when hot coffee spurts out your nose...

The Coffee Shop / Information
December 03, 2010, 03:45:12 PM
I have a complaint. It would be nice if someone would put on the forum when people are ill, having surgery or just anything going on in Howard. Not the surrounding areas, just Howard.
1. Susan Morgan had surgery
2. Marc Spurrier had surgery
3 David Oakleaf is playing at Pennys pub on Saturday night.

I know this will not interest everyone but those of us that live out of town and do not hear or read about it until it is over or too late to go.  It seems with everyone knowing so much about the happenings in Washington, there should be interest in the happenings in Howard.
Thank you
Jane
