The Coffee Shop / Any Update on Lloyd Zimmerman?
« on: July 04, 2007, 01:29:36 PM »
I haven't noticed any updates on Lloyd's condition, if anyone knows anything please post it for those of us that are far away.

I want you all to know that I ‘L-O-V-E’ this website, when my Aunt Wretha (from Howard) called my sister, Anettia (Florida) who then called me (Washington) with the news about Zimmerman’s, I tried using my computer to Google for information.  I tried many different ways to search and then after about 20 minutes I got a hit for this site.  I opened it and was I pleasantly surprised to find you all here.  I immediately sent the link to my sister (Florida), my daughter (Georgia) who spent many summers visiting my parents in Howard and swimming in the Howard pool, as well as other scattered relatives.  I noticed that most of them have joined.

I enjoy reading about everyone and what is going on around the County.  Teresa, I want to personally thank you for getting this started, it is a great way to hear and see what is going on in and around Howard.  As I said in my earlier post, my parents (Del and Loretta Riggs) lived in Howard when I was born and I feel as if I still have roots there.  I am the daughter who moved back to Howard with Dad after Mom died and stayed the few short weeks until he also passed.  It has been 5 years since I left, I wanted to stay as I do enjoy the slower paced small town life, I think it is in my blood, but I had to return to Washington. I miss the morning coffee at the ladies table and the pine cones from the bakery. (Is it still there?)

Well I am starting to ramble so I will get back to work; I am also one who checks this website several times a day to see what is happening.  Again if anyone has an update on Lloyd’s condition please post it.  If it has already been posted can you tell me where to find it???   Theresa

Thanks Janet, it is good to hear from someone who knew my parents. I don't know if we have met, but if not, it is nice to meet you.  I was so glad to find this site and I have enjoyed reading all of the posted blogs.  My Aunt is a little crazy and always has been, that is why we love her so much!   Theresa

I was born in Wichita, but my parents lived in Howard which is where they brought me after we left the hospital.  My Grandmother, Mae Riggs, was a cook at the Howard school and after she retired she was a sales clerk at the hardware store.  My dad Delbert was raised in and went to  school with many of the 'old timers' who are still there. My parents, Delbert & Loretta now reside in the Howard cemetary with my grandparents and many other relatives, in fact I have more relatives there than I do living in town.

When I was a toddler my parents moved West to Washington which is where I am now. We did return to Howard every summer to visit family and my kids spent many summers there with their grandparents.  The last time I was in Howard was for my parents funerals which were three months apart.

I am glad that I found this site when I was searching for information on the Zimmerman fire. Lloyd has been a close family friend for many, many years.  I hope that he recovers from his injuries and is soon back on his feet.

I wasn't sure if I should post a blog, but I still feel attached to Howard even though I have been gone for so long. It looks as if there are a lot of followers and I have shared the site with both of my sisters.  Thank you Teresa for starting it.          Theresa (Riggs) Smith
