Post by: patyrn on November 15, 2022, 08:01:19 PM
Beverly Lue Fuqua, daugher of John Forrest Flock and Lulavon Belle (Speer) Flock, was born August 24, 1931 at their home on Indian Creek near Fiat, Kansas with Pappy John delivering her.  She entered into eternal rest on November 13, 2022 at the age of 91.

Beverly's happines memories were spent on Indian Creek with her sister, Margie, and brothers, Ronald and Donald.  She loved entertaining others with stories from that time which included pushing Don out of the barn loft and Ronald hiding in the rafters in the outhouse at Union Valley School to frighten anyone who might come in.  In later years, when memory had left her, stories of Indian Creek and her sister, Margie, stayed with her the longest.

Beverly was blessed with five children, Cindy, Denny, Andy, Bev, and Liz, sixteen grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.  She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, and many memories were made making and pulling homemade taffy, taking walks together outside, and singing church hymns.  She also loved sharing stories and poems with her grandkids.  The Weeping Willow tree she had in her yard was a special place in the summertime to tell stories underneath.  Halloween was a favorite holiday of hers, and she would dress up and tell trick-or-treaters a scary story before they got their treat.

Beverly was a longstanding member of the Church of Christ.  She loved God and was a beautiful example of a faithful Christian woman.  She was fiercely intelligent and had a love for politics and current events.  She never missed her opportunity to vote and loved her country.  She often spoke of being a child and listening to the men in her family discuss happenings in the world and how fascinating she found that.  She had a unique sense of humor and a wonderful and joyous laugh that will be missed.  She was always fascinated by nature and God's creatures.  She loved flowers and working in her yard.  Her house was filled with African Violets just as it was in her mother's home.

Beverly is survived by her children, Cynthia (Causie) Crane, Andy (Roxanne) Peterson, Beverly (Travis) Kimbrough, and Elizabeth (Jim) Peterman; a brother, Donald (Judy) Flock; grandchildren, Shilo (Priscilla) Crane, Shelby (Sandy) Crane, Suzanne (Wayde) Scott, Barron (Madeleine) Crane, Stacey Peterson, Crystal Gail Peterson, Lisa Marie Peterson, Andrea Peterson, Zonya (Josh) Wilson, Marsh (Marissa) Peterson, Marietta (Chris) Caldwell, Forrest (Kristy) Kimbrough, Kate (Alex) Prewett, Hannah  (Aaron) Hampton, and Rachel Ralston; her special friend, Sharon, who looked after her like she was her own; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Lulavon Flock; her sister, Margie Taliaferro-Huckle;  her brother, Ronald Flock; a son, Dennis Peterson; a grandson, Sutton Crane; a granddaughter, Piper Crane; and her beloved friend, Skip.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 21, 2022 at Countryside Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas followed by interment at Grace Lawn Cemetery.  Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, Kasnas 67349.
