Wayne Dillon Barkus, age 59, of Tyro, Kansas, passed away June 2, 2022.  He was born May 30, 1963 in Winfield, Kansas to Donald and Sue (Satterlee) Barkus.  He was raised by Don and Norma Barkus in Howard, Kansas.  He attended West Elk High School in Howard with the Class of 1981.

Wayne started working at a young age in his dad's automotive shop and then as a mechanic for Ron Warrington at his garange in Howard.  He continued working for Ron for a few years until he went to work for A-Lent Construction Services.  He started his career as a millwright and worked his way up to Supervisor and Certified Crane Operator.  He then retired in July 2021 after a 37-year career with them.

Wayne is survived by his father, Donald (Norma) Barkus of Tyro, Kansas; his mother, Sue Webber of Apache Junction, Arizona; his children, Brandi (John) Mustain of Altoona, Kansas, Gatlin (Cassidy) Barkus of Burlington, Kansas, Dalton (Lily) Pendlteon of Neodesha, Kanas, and Oneisha (Dylan) Morgan of Moline, Kansas; grandchildren; Garrett Pendleton, Nolan Pendleton, Olivia Pendleton, Owen Morgan, and Rylee Morgan; and his sisters, Donna (Mike) Rozell of Winfield, Kansas, Melissa (Tracy Beitz) Barkus of Eureka, Kansas, and Marcy (Scott) Freed of Tyro, Kansas.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11;00 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Grace Lawn Cemetery in Howard, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be left with the funeral home for the Wayne Barkus Memorial Fund for his grandchildren's education.  Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, Kansas 67349.
