Title: CANNON, Ailene (Howell) - b. July 18, 1929 - d. June 15, 2020

Aliene Cannon, age 90, of Sedan, Kansas and formerly of rural Elk County, Kansas, passed away June 15, 2020 at Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Sedan, Kansas.  She was born July 18, 1929 in Longton, Kansas to Art and Gladys (Armstrong) Howell.

Aliene attended and graduated from Longton High School.  On December 17, 1946, she married Harry Cannon in Sedan, Kansas.  They were married 62 years until Harry passed away in 2008.  Together they had seven children, raising their family in rural Elk County.

Aliene and Harry farmed and ranched together, raising cattle and sheep on their land near Busby, Kansas.  Although farm life took most of their time, they would also find time to go dancing on Saturday night which Aliene loved to do.  They would travel to Altoona and meet up with several couples and square dance. 

Aliene was a member of the Helping Hand Club of Longton.  She attended the Christian Church in Buxton, Kansas and later the Baptist Church in Longton.  She was also a member of the Senior Center in Longton.

Ailene is survived by her daughter, Patricia "Patsy" (Joe) Snively; sons, Bill (Deanna) Cannon, John (Shari) Cannon, Kenny (Terri) Cannon, and Harold (Bobbie) Cannon; twelve grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and her sister, Shirley Greenburg.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry; her son, Howard Cannon; her infant son, Edwin Cannon; her great-grandsons, Tanner Kahler nd Owen Cannon; her sister, Irma Blair; and her brother, Dale Howell.

Cremation has been requested.  Graveside service will be held on June 27, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Busby Cemetery in rural Elk County, Kansas (CR27/Killdeer Road).  Memorials in Ailene's name can be made to the Longton Senior Center and may be left with the funeral home.  Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, Kansas 67349 is in charge of arrangements.
