Title: Ross's Elk County Connected thread
Post by: debid on February 16, 2013, 03:07:10 PM
Every time you post to the thread Ross started (for or against) you feed his huge ego.  If you ever notice...every time it hasn't been posted to for a few hours Ross thinks of something to add to it.  It feeds his HUGE ego that he has the longest and most active thread on the board.  If you think he is a nutty CONSPIRACIST stop adding to his thread and blowing up his ego.

And if you really want to watch him spin.... copy and paste from his thread to this one or start another one and let his thread die like it should have a long long time ago.

"If you just want to express yourself in the internet, a blog might be the right tool for you. But if you want to participate in discussions that can sometimes turn into debates, joining a forum is what's for you."

I am not real sure  discussions are one sided and to be trolled for misguided information.  I must be in the wrong  forum.

Oh wait.....

Thanks. I defer to you both. You are right of course.
I have repaired, armored and polished all cheeks ,ready to be swatted and pummeled and will try to ignore it all. Being a feisty type, I'll find it hard, but I will prevail.

While Ross makes it easy for himself to be the whipping boy of ridicule, I have to say that once in a while he gets it right and shakes what needs shook.

It's not the "what," it's the ''how'' that frosts some. Even the most plausible  thoughts lose their luster when presented with such rancor and incorrect assumptions...like calling anyone not wearing a cyber "I support Boss Ross" button a liar. He has never learned to respect other views. Some lip service, but then the attack follows.
Now he's again playing the poor, honorable, 'uneducated hick" victim card. Jean valjean he is not.
I think reasonable people have long since given up on his personal thread. If he could have learned to debate in a polite manor and stop with the "I'm just asking questions" ploy, he could have gotten what he wanted long ago . Even I could have explained what some of his old questions about what strong families and communities and such meant. There are actual definitions and measurements about such things. He would have rejected them all as being silly, so nobody bothered to engage him.
He is correct about one thing . Unless Elk County has a big influx of people and fairly soon, the little towns will become ghost towns for sure.Taxing property doesn't create people to spend their SS or pensions or welfare or whatever they have to support the local merchants. How long can they hang on? There are some who don't care. I'm not sure why.
Lower taxes? Easy, if you are willing to really inconvenience yourselves. Someday I'll write a list, tongue in cheek of course, of many ways of cutting taxes. Here are just a few.
No school buses, no road work, including ditch maintenance, and give it back to the land owners to take care of the property next to the roads.Ya wanna drive those roads bad enough, you'll do it yourself! Turn off the street lights. who really needs' em. Outhouses and back yard pumps work just fine don't they? If they were good enough for great grandpa, they'd be good enough for today's generation. There are many more, but it'll make a lot of people groan. ;) ;D ;D ;D

You sound like Obama and his Sequester Scare Tour.  How about no taxpayer subsidized movies after school, controls on zero based budgeting growth, cost effective purchasing policies, elimination of duplication and realistic productivity expectations.  Of course, I'm sure you've carefully observed all Elk county internal operations & purchasing practices, done manpower studies here and studied the local budget carefully... or are at least parroting the liberal whining of your sore loser, 'inside' sources, so you're probably right.  Don't you have a porn star ex-Miss Delaware to go save or some Biden shotgun shells to reload?  Excuse me now, I've got to go grade the road in front of my place... drastic service cutbacks, you know.

Tongue in cheek?  That'll be the day.

Do you think posting over here is any different than posting over there?

It isn't the first time a Follower has posted else where trying to hide is it?
Let's post this over there so we make sure everyone watching that thread doesn't miss your post, Okay, OK!
That way everyone gets to see how you operate. Great huh!

Debid Are you suggesting Elk Konnected, LLC has died?

I don't think so!

The Followers will be back.

The rest of the Followers are probably just following orders and keeping their mouths shut just like good little Followers should.

Why?
Because they can't argue against anything I have posted over there, that's why!

They can't take the heat.

They can't even post over there anything Elk Konnected.. LLC has done for Elk county since it's inception?

Must be because everything they have done has failed, don't ya reckon?

Ross,

I am far from a "follower".  I disagree with your thread(and you) because of several reasons.  I would like to tell you that when I had my business in Howard, Liz Hendricks and her family were some of my biggest supporters.   I also happened to Like Liz and Doug as people, and parents.  I admire the the amount of time and effort they put into raising their girls.   They are good and loyal friends to many.  Right away when you started in it turned me off.  You obviously do not know Liz or her extended family.

I personally think you are a nut....  Not because I know you in person, but because of your thread.  Nothing you say or do will change my mind on that.

I cannot understand your reasoning behind the hatred of Elk Konnected... I just don't and you will not change my mind.

The fact that you refuse to let your thread die (even though it is obvious people are done with it)  proves my point on this thread.

DEBID, you said it for a lot of people. Most of us have nothing to do with Elk Konnect but Ross in his sick and twisted vendatta continues to rant on. Liz and her family have worked hard for Elk County and for the people and they don't deserve the trash Ross has made up about them.

I bet you thought you would slide on this one, didn't you?

You have everything to do with it, this thread for instance is connected to the other thread, if no other way, through me. You can run (to another thread) but you can't hide.

First, how many of there are you, 3, 4, 5, 6, how many?

If you are not Konnected, why get so irate about the Elk Konnected thread?
Why have I received threats on that/this thread?
Why are you ranting, by starting this thread as a tool to bad mouth me and lie about me?
No, I won't beat around the bush, you are the one doing the lying.

What vendetta are you speaking of?
What definition of vendetta are you using?
Do you really consider asking a politician questions a vendetta?
If so, I would think that would make your thinking sick and twisted!

Oh, that's a good one! What exactly has she done for the benefit of Elk County?
Starting Elk Konnected, LLC, is that what you are referring too!
How has that benefited any one?

And please Oldtimer tell us the truth aren't you her daddy?
You wouldn't deny your daughter would you?

And please Oldtimer tell us the truth tell us exactly what has been made up by me?
Please be very precise?
Use the ability this forum provides you and quote what I have made up.
Tell us every lie, every story you are accusing me of making up, please.

You won't do it, because you can't do it!
So, who does that make the liar out to be?

Now, let's take this back to the original thread. Okay. OK!

Ross' narcicism is showing again.  Only wants Elk Konnected to be discussed on his own personal thread.  Can't stand that those who back the good people who make up and support Elk Konnected would actually choose to have their own thread.

I'm not going to add much except to say that Robert  issued a statement that nobody can challenge anything he has said.(not a quote) I certainly can. I think he has written so much he can't even remember what he has said to whom.
Threats? To him or by him? Show me even one plauable threat to him. He's the one who threatened to take his business somewhere else and take his "friends " ;D with him.
On more than one occasion he has accused Liz of writing as me. I really resent that. There is something wrong, frantic and suspicious about his doing that.  It's a total fabrication.
As far as not posting recently, it was my decision. Nobody that matters has told me to shut up or write in some particular way. Not that I let people influence me with ignorant insults anyway. I just consider the source and hold them partly responsible for the down slide of this whole forum. Sadly, it appears to be  just about dead.

I don't see that any "decent people" have bugged out. I did notice where a few progressive commies bugged out for a short spell and judging from the PM's I received and the talk on the streets it was nice---while it lasted. Oh yea, now that you are feeling so froggy today why don't you jump and tell Teresa and Kjell in a pm that their forum is dead because East Coast Di says so. They both could use a belly laugh.

My, my, my.  What a negative attitude.  As much as you enjoy poking your 2 cents worth in everywhere, one would think you would enjoy having help 'spreading it around'.  Since conservatives love watching liberals whine & squirm when they are treated as they treat others, try this on for size...

"DON"T READ IT or shut up about it"?  Your Marxist desires to openly control others is showing.  When contrasted with attempts to elicit honest discussion, your heartfelt motives are quite clear.

Thanks, jacksonpollochjr for the compliment it's much appreciated.

I've said I have no secrets. If you look i have a bunch of old, old family pictures up there as well.

I do believe we all have several persona's and it depends on situations what persona is used or seen.
No I'm not talking split personalities, LOL.
Politics sucks.
But when anyone want's my tax dollar, I have a right to question you as to who, what , where, when, why and how.

Yes jacksonpollochjr politics can be pretty nasty and I have tried very hard to be polite, there has been a time or two I lost it s little but heck I'm human. I don't ask anyone to believe anything I say, instead I ask that they think for themselves and discuss what is happening with family and friends and such.

I have only attempted to ask questions of what I see is a politically motivated NGO that appeared to claim to be the Elk County Savior.

they were rather rude to myself and others at one of their so called Community Conversations. I personally politely excused myself, when the man from Leoti called for the Sherriff (which I found severely rude). I understand others left very angry.

Me a City boy, if you call Independence, Kansas city.
Yeah I lived in different cities over the last forty years of so, only to make a decent living. And I didn't move back to Independence or Montgomery County because in my opinion they are to citified.

I chose Elk County for the simple life and the openness and the the beauty of the country side and because most of the people in Elk County are down home type folks of yesteryear.

A farmer, I am not, but I am having a great time pretending and learning. If I never had to drive off my property I probably wouldn't. But I do enjoy seeing the people of Elk County when I do leave my property to do some shopping in Howard and Moline. And the occasional stops at the Swinging Bridge Cafe and the Elk Falls Drive-in for a bite to eat. I sure miss Stubb at the cafe though.

i know a lot of people have had a good laugh a time or two driving by my place. Like when a straight line wind blew over my three sided horse shelter I built. Stubb told me so.  I know they laughed at my round bales last year. And I am quite happpy to provide a few laughs while I learn. If I learn. LOL

If you happen to be driving by stop in and say hi, I don't bite. Really we are friendly. If you can offer some advice to a retired old man raising a few cows and chickens and a couple of horses I'll definitely listen. If you just want to stop and pet my horses you are welcome to do that. But I can;t be responsible for you if you put your foot under their hoof or put your finger between their teeth.

I consider my horses very friendly and gentle. I purchased these beautiful critters from the Circle N in Elk Falls and I am proud of them.

Also and this is important, I won't tolerate any meanness to any animal.

Once again thanks for the compliment.

Thanks Janet.

We had a really good time putting this place together.
The reason for the web site was because of all my fellow workers and relatives spread across the US wanting to see pictures and I found it impossible to email all of them.

And to some of my family wanted to see old family pictures.

The sight is not publicized because it was meant mainly for friends and family. But quite a few people have stumbled on to it.
One lady wanted to know what i used for separating the top portion of my my horse stalls. It was an idea provide to me by an Elk Falls horseman. I used horse panels. And the lady really liked the idea and was going to use the same thing.

So it has been fun. I was going to let it expire bu my nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews talked me into letting it stay up.

Thanks again for the compliment. I love living here and I sure don't miss living in the cities.

I did not start this thread, nor have I ever criticized you. My freedom of speech is guaranteed just like yours is. I do find it interesting however, that as much as a few complain about non elected groups and what they do, that is exactly what they are doing. They hold no elected offices, yet they act like they speak for all of Elk County and nobody else better have an opinion. Political snipers?
What I don't like and never will are the nasty personal attacks and labels that did not exisit until a few joined a couple of years ago. What politics has to do with daily activities and growing plants I'll never know.
Please don't read what I post, problem solved. My friends may read me and enjoy my contributions, anyone else can just skip mine and go be bothered by someone else.

1.  In privately owned venues, like this forum, speech can be moderated or controlled by the owner of the venue.  I believe Kjell recently exercised that process here:  http://www.cascity.com/howard/forum/index.php/topic,15167.0.html (http://www.cascity.com/howard/forum/index.php/topic,15167.0.html)

2.  While the ability to speak may be free in America, there is no guarantee that the speech will not have consequences.

3.  I don't believe that being offended or otherwise disturbed by someone's free speech justifies chronic victim status of the hearer (unless the alleged victim subscribes to the utopian and dysfunctional belief that life should be fair and 'perfect'), and I'm damned sure such victim status does not belong to a legally protected class.

4.  Chronic droning on about one's rights of free speech reeks of victimhood.

You don't know the half of it buddy. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D. The moderators do listen. As far as victoms go, you do know they can band together with strength in numbers and put a stop to the nonsense. Remember we had a whole revolutionary war over that. Oh that's right you didn't exist yet. :P

((((This probably should be said in P.M.'s~but it eliminates the 'he said she said' issues and everyone hears the same thing.))) So I'm going to say several things in several areas and I hope you all will just understand that sometimes being an owner of something means you have to be in a position that is not on the fun side of the scale. Plus~~ I'm just me.. a small town redneck so I type like I talk. I'm also only one person and the things I'm going to say are my sole opinion.. ( so some of you or all of you or whatever~ may not agree.. and thats ok.. )
((God, before I even start I feel like a school marm with a ruler in my hand~~looking severely over round spectacles to a class full of kids..  and I don't even like being in this position. I HATE rules.. Never found one I liked and doubt I ever will. Probably why I don't go by many.  ::) So this isn't easy for me . ))

I have my own personal opinions of many things and I try to not voice them much in here, so as to not be labeled as "taking sides". If I have an issue ( good and bad) with anything, I always use PM's. (generally).
I do try to see both sides, but I am a severely flawed human being.. *lol*  and sometimes I fail, because my knee jerk emotions outweigh my common sense. And I know it and I readily admit it.  I'm an aggressive pain in the ass sometimes so I have learned to try to ignore some things and some people and let things pass. Sometimes I succeed and sometimes I miserably fail. This forum has been a great way for me to learn how to zip it and practice restraint. ( and Kjell is witness that I am still a long ways from having mastered it)  :)

Diane~ You are right!! I DO listen.. and I listen and I listen~~and ENOUGH ALREADY !!!! Please!!
To your benefit~~ I will say that I thought that the thread started this week with you specifically targeted with post moving and all that crap was totally uncalled for. And I did something about it immediately when I was notified of it. You are a very smart woman who has and does many good things for your area and the community that you reside in, but I have to say that sometimes you are just like a constant barking nipping chihuahua, in the middle of everything. I don't think you realize it, but you kinda always seem to turn even the most remote things into an insult or slam  about you. You tend to wear your feelings on your sleeve so sometimes things said are easily misinterpreted as being about you, when in fact they are not. And yes~ sometimes they are. That's life. And sometimes the bigger dogs come in and have finally had their fill of it.~ and they bite hard. The lesson is to try to understand the cause. You don't seem to be able to grasp the 'why" they do it, because you continually see yourself as the victim and never wrong. They don't do it to anyone else. There is a reason~~
You are NOT always the victim you claim to be. .. Quit going on and on and on about how mistreated you are and how nothing bothers you ( but it obviously does)  and shouting to the world that you are going to be just as nasty as "those others". Nobody cares!!  You take 4 words that is said and every time create a full page novel of your displeasure thinking its all about you. Stop it please. People are tired of it!

Patriot, Jarhead Bullwinkle and Ross~~There is an obvious conflict of personality's.  Leave her alone!!! I mean it!!! Ignore her!! You say this..she says that...Nerves are lit...~~You all continue to dangle the bait.. she snaps it up.. and the game is on.  She does takes it seriously, which escalates her "doing it back to you" and you guys are running with it because she drives you insane and you like to see her twisting in the wind.  But feelings are hurt and that turns everyone into growling snapping rabid dogs....and it goes on and on and on like a bad movie, that the rest of us have to watch and listen to. Which is driving us all insane!! ( and believe me, its a darn short trip for me.)
So I mean it!! Cut it out!!! ( and Jarhead~ you make me laugh til the tears run, but zip it right now  :-X  .. cause I know you are taking a big old breath wanting to have the last big windy word! And this time you're not going to !!)

Patriot~ I know that you severely get under some peoples skin because you call a spade a spade.
And I am going to say that without a doubt you are one of the most intelligent people I have ever met in areas of government, law and politics. Someone only has to spend an evening with you to be able to know that. You have brought to light more things in this county than most people can digest. And something that in my opinion has needed done for a long long time.  And none of it is hearsay. I admire you for that. ( But you still need to behave)

Warph~ Thanks for your wit, writing ability and your knowledge on politics.. You know I have great admiration for you.

Readyaimduck~~you are another good poster.. in fact I think everyone has a whole lot of good things to offer a local forum.

Flint, Jane, Wilma, Catwoman, Deb ~~you all have good conversation input~You all are smart and can join in on any conversation and be right at home....but you have a way of stepping in when you don't need to, throw a howling cat in the pot, then step back just to listen to what the howling will draw. Try to curb that please.  And I'm the first to admit that if I didn't have to answer to Kjell and wasn't part owner of this place??~~ well,  I would probably be more than guilty of doing the same thing..  :-[ :-[

Ross~~ You call yourself a redneck ~ I personally don't see that as a bad thing.. lol ~~ I'm not alone on this, but I think you are extremely intelligent. ( I'm not blowing smoke either)  You are not afraid to dig for answers to your questions and are unrelentless until you get your answers.   I have never met you, but anyone that has~ says you are a kind and good person clear through, and someone that they are proud to call a friend. That speaks volumes to me!   But~~~please ease up on the repetitiveness of the Elk Konnected thread. Its just way to much of the same thing. You are never going to get answers. You have brought many things to light and to the table that were very legitimate.. But were obviously extremely threatening to some.  To others, it was food for thought and curiosity on wanting to know more.  Your input seemed to ride hand in hand with the last few years of commissioners meetings and the goings on within the county that Patriot was discovering. It takes someone brave enough to step out on a shaky limb to delve in as you have done to try to find out what you wanted to know.

The questions concerning anything in our county in my feeble mind are legitimate and should be addressed. I think that any tax paying citizen would want to know, regardless of who was sitting in the decision making chairs what is going on with our tax money. If everything is above board and documented, then there should never be a problem to have answers. My mother always told me that the truth never hides. But when the truth isn't readily available, then silence proceeds.

But its like feeding a child cookies.. what starts out to be sweet tasting and good~ given too much at one time day after day becomes horrible. So Ross~~for awhile on this subject, give it a rest please. :)

If new things arise in any area of the county that needs brought to light and there is questionable reason for concern, by all means bring it to the table.. Elk Konnected, County Commissioners, Fire Dept, Sheriffs office, City Office, Cooksons Hardware, D&M Gun Sales, Batsons,  Elk County Website and Forum...No one is above having questions issued on their business practices and I don't think that most mind answering peoples questions and concerns. This is the place to ask and hopefully find out EVERYONE'S opinion and see what can be done and what answers can be given.

I think that there are a whole lot of subjects out there that can be debated and discussed ~ the garden thread is a refreshing topic~ Thank you Growit1. Hopefully other threads, even in politics, can be talked about without all the personal assassinations of each other.

I don't expect everyone to play nice all of the time. That's impossible. It really is because we are human and not robots without emotions and feelings. There is going to be direct disagreements and we all will think that the ones who disagree with us are idiots and can't see the forest for the trees...so personalities will still clash and words following that will still be spoken. You can't escape it. But all I'm asking is that if you fire off a few shots on occasion.. step back and breathe before you reload your gun.

Thats all~~Thanks~~
from an emotional crazy person with a knee jerk attitude who hates rules and regulations .. and who needs to practice what she is preaching.
I will try to do that also~ and if I don't~~~ fire a warning shot in my direction before aiming for one of my vitals.. okay?? lol  ~~except you Jarhead.. You can't hit a bull in the ass with a banjo, so you can fire at me all you want. ;D

Miss Teresa,
After that scolding I suppose you think I'm gonna take it lying down. Wrong---once again you show me you don't know horse crap from apple butter---to even imply I'm gonna take a deep breath is nonsense. You know damn well that after 48 years of smoking there aint a "deep breath" left in my chubby little body !!
Gonna be boring but I will "try" to play nice but if you let ol Sarge call me Tubby or tell people he is a better fisherman than me---then all bets are off.
PLEASE, on the bad shot comment. Who the hell you think taught Carlos to shoot ?
PS: You note I finally called you Miss ?Are you happy now ? :)

#2~~Its Mistress to you and if I want to hear anything out of you~I will untie you and take the pink frilly panties out of your mouth..

((( i know I know~totally inappropriate for here, but I totally couldn't resist..  hahahaha))) and now I will be heading to time out in the corner because that is surely most certainly where I will be when Kjell reads this.  :-\

Thank you Teresa for the kind words about intelligence.
But I have to tell you, you are wrong.
I have just barely made it through life with the ABC's.

I surely am proud to be a redneck, hick from the Podunk.
As I read somewhere else rednecks have what it takes to get the job done.

And I feel you got the job done tonight.
Good job.

Now. I'll go to my room and pout.

I hope everyone enjoys the weekend and any moisture in what ever form we get it in.

Good night all.

Miss Bonnie Bell,
I'm trying to be nice-I really am---but kinda hard to do when the first thing I saw this morning ,when I stumbled into the coffee shop, was Farmer Joe sitting there and him ripping into me about sleeping in--then he follows me out to the Smoke Shack and gripes about second hand smoke killing him. If I didn't think the world of that ol fart I would of kicked him out---oh and the fact that he gets some of that fine Tenn. " shine" he shares with me makes me bite my tongue. :D

Ross, you really do have a nice farm. The website is a good story. It seems you have a good handle on the place, you don't need my help. My last calf was Terence and he tasted pretty good. I really enjoyed the B/W picture of you Boy Scouts with your "backpacks".

We have had a couple of cows called T-Bone and Ribs and Steak and they were all tasty.

The back packs were taught to us by our scout master. Using some old jeans was better than doing without.
As I said before on here we were dirt poor when I was growing up. No regrets though. We ate some of the best depression foods.
I wish I had my momma's recipes.  Ten kids, mom and dad and grandma all living in maybe an 800 sqft house, if that big.

Growing up that way teaches a lot of respect for a lot of things.

Over spending is not necessary to enjoy life is one of the many things I learned.

Staying out of debt is another.

Life has  been grand for me, no complaints, no regrets.

Funny thing about "depression food" now it is so popular it is expensive. I love chicken wings, but won't pay 1.99 lb. for them. Still buy whole chicken and cut and package them. I will give you all the chicken breasts for an equal weight of wings. Used to get femur bones for free and roast them for the dog. Have you seen what they charge for Red Beans and Rice? Oxtail now are $4.99 per pound. That makes for a very expensive homemade beef stock. Just had to add to your comment on depression foods. I think most of us on the forum have been in that place.
