Title: So Much For Spring---
Post by: sixdogsmom on March 18, 2010, 09:52:49 PM
I see that we are under a winter storm watch; five to eight inches of wet snow; danger of building collapses due to the weight of the wet snow. Yuk! And I am wanting to plant flowers and stuff!  :'( :'(

It is coming, I feel it.........boy do I feel it.

Just accept that we live in Kansas and one of these days it will snow in JULY.
Enjoy what you can of today.

I have walked once today and while it is warmish and sun is out think I will go out again.
I too have spring-fever......but it will wait.
Hang in there................This too shall pass!

It has been heavily snowing here since before we arose this morning. Within the past 30 minutes, the snow has turned to sleet.

Visibility is bad but ironically, the streets have not yet been affected because the temperature is in the early 30s and the previous days was in the 60s. Our back yard, though, has deep snow and the mutt loves to play in it.

We get our heaviest snowfalls in March and April.

Still feel like crud today, but had to have some groceries before the storm hits. I went to Sedan, and saw everybody I know from Moline, (almost). After shopping, I stopped for a burger and coffee. By the time I got home, I got sprinkled on as I unloaded groceries. Now I will settle down for a nap before the round of games tonight. They are still saying snow later tonight and throughout the day tomorrow.  :P

I am sorry you are having such bad weather there.  It is nice here, sunny but still a little cool.  I will have to get gas for the riding mower tomorrow and start mowing my weeds, I don't think the grass is tall enough to mow yet but the weeds sure are.

Hope your bad weather doesn't last long.

It is still snowing heavy and has begun to accumulate.

The forecast, right now, is for it to end by midnight.

The temp has now dropped from 75 this afternoon to 33 degrees with rain. Waldo, the radar looks like we will start getting snow about the time yours is finished. All the forecasters this evening say we will get up to ten inches by the end of the storm. Yuk, and more yuk!  :-X

We are beautiful here today. The daffy groups are opening and the sun is warm. I'm sorry you are having another storm, but would you not send it here when you are finished with it? Please?

I'm finished with it.  What do I do with it now?

Diane, maybe you should post a sign in your front yard that you are not receiving and more snow until winter.  If that would have worked, I wish I would have done that.  It is still coming down and the wind is right out of the north, and it is starting to drift.   BLAST IT !!!!
I was sooooooooooooo ready for spring.

I'm making that sign right now. We just got back from lunch at the country club and the golfers are out in force with a glazed look in their eyes. Must be from golf withdrawal or something. ;D

Well, they should have had this much snow at the winter olympics! There is about nine inches stacked up on the barrel I keep birdseed in just outside my back door. Makes a handy settin' perch for the cat when he wants in, BTW. It is still snowing like a fool, and the radar shows no break for at least 85 miles. My poor daffies are buried Diane, wish I had picked them all instead of the small boquet I have on my dining room table. The magnolias have begun to show color, but they aren't out enough to get hurt, I think, (I hope).

It isn't snowing here in Houston but it is raining and they are saying it will be in the 30's tonight.  So much for mowing the yard today, looks like I will wading instead.

Sitting here in Springfield watching the rain, waiting for the snow :( :(.  Yesterday was beautiful, my first bike ride of the season.  Hopefully, it won't be to much longer you guys until spring really settles in.

Sounds like they have extended the snow thru tomorrow morning!  Guess we'll just have to live with it. :)

How is everyone doing now? (We start getting it as rain tonight.) Hope you all came through OK. Hopefully that's it for your snow this season. The daffodils and things may be alright if they weren't crushed, they don't mind some snow. We lucked out with a beautiful weekend and got a lot done outside. The rain comes for several days with temps back in the 40's and 50's again. It's still March.

Well, Diane, a lot of the snow has disappeared despite a bitter north wind that has howled all day. Our church cancelled services this morning as I am certain many others did also. It was so late when the snowfall stopped, not much clearing was done before this morning. I was glad of it, as I wasn't looking forward to getting out in the mess. I have the house debates on C-Span, pretty interesting. I click over to the tournament from time to time. Gotta get in the kitchen before long and clean it up, so it can get messy again.  :P Not a sign of the daffies yet, as I think they pretty much got buried, I do think that we got more than six inches of snow, I am going by yesterday when I gathered snow to make ice cream. One of the benefits of living this far away from much air pollution. Yum!

We have about 6 inches on the ground since about 4pm and are supposed to have 15 inches before it stops tomorrow.

This snow has a lot of water in it and is extremely heavy to shovel.

Uh, can you keep that right there please? I think we have it coming in by the weekend as rain again. Cold, but not ice,I hope.

It did not stop snowing until about noon, today.

However, the flakes decreased in size last evening and even with continuing until noon, we have only 8-9 inches.

This is one of those spring storms that melt quickly causing flooding in the process. In this case the temperature is up to 44 degrees and the roads are almost clear in the neighborhoods.
