A couple of websites say the Titanic had 20 lifeboats, enough for only 1,178 people, when the ship's capacity was 3,547. That lifeboat capacity was abut 59 people per boat.
There were only 2,223 people on board and only 706 escaped, leaving a death toll of 1,517 people.
Nowadays, it seems to me that there has to be enough lifeboats on board for everyone even when the ship is at capacity.
At the Titanic lifeboat rate, the Oasis of the Seas would need to have about 143 lifeboats stashed away somewhere.
