Title: Tom Delay on DWTS
Post by: Tobina+1 on September 22, 2009, 09:35:10 AM
I would be shirking my duties to my favorite TV show if I didn't let you know that Tom Delay is on Dancing With The Stars this season!
(Just wanted to add a little fun to the Politics section)
From his bio:
The former House Majority Leader is a prominent Republican and conservative firebrand. He was first elected to Congress in 1984, and when Republicans took control of the House his colleagues elected him Majority Whip, and later Majority Leader.

His leadership was characterized by his aggressive "Grow the Vote" method of party discipline where he never lost a vote, leading the Washington Post to nickname him "The Hammer."

Not sure what that means.  You think that being on DWTS is "selling out"?  I think it's pretty cool; they've got people from all sorts of backgrounds competing in something they've never done before.  Usually the old guys don't last too long, but it's fun to see them try and give it their all and really get into it.  Of course, you can tell the old guys love dancing with their scantily-clad MUCH younger dance partners, too.  I don't know for sure, but this may be the first politician who's been on the show.

how easily we forget.  The nickname has nothing to do with the show.

Geez Anmar...allow us a lighter moment  :P

I'm probly one of the few people in the world who hasn't watched DWTS but once or twice lol. The only one I watched was when that girl from General Hospital was on and her dress broke in the middle of the dance and she kept goin. I always wanted to learn how to dance like that but never did.

Anmar, How was Delay a sell out ? I think in the USA you are innocent until proven guilty and nothing he was accused of ever went in front of a jury. A couple of his aides yes.
Pam
There was a wardrobe malfuntion on DWtS ?? I have never watched the show before----but I will now !!

heh, for Pam's sake, i'll bow out.  But yeah, one of the biggest sell-outs of the conservative movement, just read, it's easy to find on the internet.

Yeah, I have no clude what you're talking about.  I didn't even know who Tom Delay was until last night on the show.  Just thought I'd see if anyone on here was interested in watching him dance.

Yes, there are all sorts of funny things that happen to the stars on this show.  Wardrobe malfunctions, fainting (Marie Osmond), etc.  The cool thing is that you see these "stars" so far out of their element that you really get to see their true colors and how they handle stress, being taught, etc.  I really enjoy watching the ballroom dancing, and always wish I could learn to dance like that!  For a full roster of this season's stars, I'll post in Coffee Shop.

You might be Teresa, but you aint alone out there. I would rather spend my reading all the time trying to figure out why an all knowing person would say that Delay is a "sell out ". It still escapes me but I will keep reading !!!!

I'm not a fan of Survivor.  I watched it quite a few years ago b/c I thought it would be neat to see how people survived... and just found out it's like most other reality shows... people fighting and bickering and playing each other just to win.  No survival skills needed.

Dancing, like I said earlier, just intrigues me as I love to watch them DANCE!  Nothing political, no taking sides... just learning dance moves in 6 days and then performing LIVE.  If we could find someone to teach it, I've love to incorporate dance classes into the new fitness center!

I learned last night that Tom has a sense of humor, as his partner told him to go left and he told her that he could never do that. :)
