Title: guns vs doctors
Post by: cheyronni on August 22, 2009, 10:36:19 PM
Number of physicians in the US: 700,000.

Accidental deaths
caused by physicians per year: 120,000.

Accidental deaths per physician: 0.171 (U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Services)

Number of gun owners in the US: 80,000,000.

Number of accidental gun deaths per year (all age groups): 1,500.

Accidental deaths per gun owner: 0.0000188

Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

"FACT: Not everyone has a gun, but everyone has at least one Doctor."

Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets out of hand. As a Public Health Measure, the statistics on Lawyers have been withheld for fear that the shock could cause people to seek medical aid.

Hey, heres a thought, if people can sue gun makers because their paticular firearm was used during a crime, does that mean we can charge ambulance drivers for "aiding and abeiting"? ;D

I don't think people have a problem with guns because of the accidents.  The problem starts when they are used correctly by people who shouldn't be using them.  This is the great thing about states being able to make their own laws.  States with bigger cities need gun control, rural states don't.

Let's please not start a debate on gun control here in the Coffee Shop.  If we are going down that road again, I respectfully suggest we take it back to Politics.
