Military strained by Obama trip
by Bill Gertz
Air Obama
President Obama's European visit this week has strained Air Force heavy-airlift capabilities and obliged the military to hire more foreign contractors to help resupply U.S. and allied forces in Afghanistan, according to military sources.
The large delegation traveling with the president in Europe required moving several transports, including jumbo C-5s and C-17s, from sorties ferrying supplies to Afghanistan to European bases for the presidential visit, said two military officials familiar with the issue. They spoke on the condition of anonymity to avoid any misunderstanding with White House officials.
The Air Mobility Command, part of the U.S. Transportation Command, was ordered to provide airlift for the president's entourage of nearly 500 people, including senior officials, staff, support personnel, news reporters and some 200 Secret Service agents for the European visit, which began Tuesday in London.
Airlift for the traveling entourage also was used to move the president's new heavy-armored limousine and several presidential helicopters used for short transits.
To make up for the shortfall, the Air Force had to increase the number of Eastern European air transport contractors hired to fly Il-76 and An-124 transport jets into Afghanistan loaded with troop supplies, the two officials said.
The airlift crunch comes at a particularly difficult time, as the military is stepping up deliveries of supplies in advance of a surge of 21,000 U.S. troops to Afghanistan.

doesn't really come as a suprise >:(
sighhhhhhhhhh you know...... I'm just sometimes so worn out from being disgusted at what this man is doing. All I can do is close my eyes... and shake my head and hope like hell we can survive and stay intact as a nation with this Helium Ego'd Idiot and his band of thieves at the wheel.............
There aren't any words right now .......................... :(
Really, people, and Bush's trips and Clinton's trips didn't do the same thing? Are you going to find something wrong with everything he does?
That appears to be the case. >:( ::)
Wellllllllll Not Everything..........
He is well dressed and his teeth are nice and white.

I listened to people (other than you) bash Bush daily...And, while I still say that we should support our President, no matter who he/she is, I have been very gratified to see that O is beginning to receive the same daily dose of drivel that Bushy had to endure. Misery loves company! :o ::)
Do you think that might be the reason that there is so much fault-finding, that people are so unhappy with their own situations that they have to share it?
Wilma, I think you may have something. While I think it may be an American pastime to criticize the minutiae of the President's mistakes; I think that due to the current economic climate that you may be correct.

Maybe, but I doubt that it's the primary problem. The biggest part of the problem with O isn't that people are so very unhappy with their lives at the moment...It has more to do with the various unfortunately valid points brought out by myself, Teresa, Kjell, Varmit, Warph, Frank and others. The current economic climate just adds salt to the already open wound of what O is now and is feared to be in the future. I keep trying to remember the statements that Pam has made...We've gotten along pretty good before this president...We can survive this tenure and then go on afterwards.
Of course we will survive. Do you really think this will be any worse than what some of us have already survived? I have lived through 12 presidents that I can remember. I am still here. My earliest memory of my father working was for the WPA. We didn't have to worry about losing our home because there had never been enough money to buy a home. We lived in old houses with cracks in the floor, but they were clean because there wasn't anything except clean around my mother. We had food because my father worked at whatever he could and my mother had a garden and chickens and a cow whenever possible. I am not going to spend my remaining days thinking that the world is coming to an end just because we are having some hard times now. With any kind of luck I will survive this president and maybe two or three more.
Thank you! :-*
Okay, let me address these one at a time...
1) Really, people, and Bush's trips and Clinton's trips didn't do the same thing? Are you going to find something wrong with everything he does?-wilma
Show me one thing that he has done to help this country, other than spending more money than every president in U.S. history PUT TOGETHER (please note the sarcasm) and leaving a dept that my grandchildren won't be able to even make a dent in.
2) Do you think that might be the reason that there is so much fault-finding, that people are so unhappy with their own situations that they have to share it?-wilma
I am happy with my situation, my house payment is being paid, my kids are fed, and my dog is loyal...life is good. Apparently, too good, because my gov't is now taking more than they ever have to give to those who don't deserve it. Gee, I guess I just make too good a living. How arrogant of me.
3) Wilma, I think you may have something. While I think it may be an American pastime to criticize the minutiae of the President's mistakes; I think that due to the current economic climate that you may be correct-dnalexander
Minutiae of the presidents mistakes??? his entire office is a mistake. the only reason he got voted in his his skin tone. not to mention voter fraud.
4)We can survive this tenure and then go on afterwards.-catwoman
I really hope your right, I doubt it, but I can hope. Given the state of our dollar, how we are cowtowing and reversing the policies that have kept us safe, i think hope in an empty suit is a dangerous thing.
5) Wilma, as for your last post, when the market crashes, and it will, it is going to make the Great depression look like a norman rockwell painting. I am glad you lived through 12 presidents, but tht was before soialized medicine. That was before folks were going to be taxed on the mileage they drive, before carbon tax credits, and at a time when America stood up to its enemies not laid down before them.
So, are you going to crawl into a hole tomorrow and pull it in after you?
I agree with Wima, hard times doesn't mean the "end of the world". We will survive whatEVER happens BECAUSE we were raised by grandparents and parents who knew how to make do or do without. So WE learned to make do or do without. I know I sure do. We bought our place 7 years ago but the payments are WAY less than rent anywhere else. I have a garden..hunt if need be..can grow pretty much my own anything. I do all the doctorin possible barrin MAJOR mishaps. I'm happy on my little corner of paradise.. which is what this place is. I will watch Obama and in four years I will say sayonara and watch the next one ball some more stuff up.
i think you all are givin Obama WAY too much credit. Seriously....just go OOOOOMMMMMMMMM.. and not OOOMMMM S*&^ LOL
Of course not. Retreating from a problem or pretending it doesn't exist is never a good option. I will contuine to fight for my rights and see to it that my children grow up in a free country. And if possible see to it that the current adminstration doesn't do any more damage to this country. What I would really like to see is obama impeached, and he and his flunkies tried for theft and treason. I figured my previous posts would have made that clear.
By the way, I never said that obama is the "end of the world". What I said is that he is fundmentally anti-american and he is hurting this country more than anyone before him.
The fact of the matter is bud that there have been calls for the heads of damn near EVERY president we ever had. Just because I don't go around hollerin the sky is fallin don't mean I won"t or DON'T stand up for my rights and OTHER peoples rights for that matter.
The current administration WILL do a certain amount of damage, it's the nature of the beast called government. That's just the way it is. People wanted Bush impeached, they wanted Clinton impeached, they want Obama impeached SSDD!
I stand by what I said before, when push comes to shove, don't be shovin me cause I shove back ( that is in reference to the government not you Varmit). I AM free, period.
Pam I understand what you're saying. I guess I just don't understand how people who profess to be American can let or would want a president that would so blantly violate the Constitution, bow to foregin gov'ts, and endanger this country. I mean it is almost cultish the way folks pratically worship obama.
Easy...calm down....I wasn't talking about you.
Give it a little time. The honeymoon wears off after awhile. What is it now, not quite 3 months?
Ok I'm back...daughter was givin me the evil eye cause I was cuttin into her puter time :P
LOL don't ask me to explain human nature :P, I'm one of those people who doesn't even get all excited over ROCK stars LOL. Maybe that's why I'm not freakin out, I just don't sweat other people that much....I learned the hard way to live NOW cause when you get right down to it that's all you actually have and if you waste it worryin about what may not happen or get here well........My motto is be prepared but hope for the best and live it as it comes.
QuoteShow me one thing that he has done to help this country, other than spending more money than every president in U.S. history PUT TOGETHER (please note the sarcasm) and leaving a dept that my grandchildren won't be able to even make a dent in.
Uh........Bush did that too.............
QuoteMinutiae of the presidents mistakes??? his entire office is a mistake. the only reason he got voted in his his skin tone. not to mention voter fraud.
Actually his skin tone may have had a little to do with it but I think it was mainly people being sick of SSDD and buyin his "I have a dream " talk. There are a LOT of people that have been goin to work every day and workin hard and not gettin anywhere, the rich get richer, the poor get poorer and the middle just treads water. Frustration and disgust makes people do SOMTHIN even if it's wrong just to shake things up and maybe get em movin again. Sometimes that's all you can do and if it turns out badly well at least you did somthin and gave it a shot. You pick up the pieces, dust em off, put em back in some kind of order and give it aNOTHER shot.
Quotewhen the market crashes, and it will, it is going to make the Great depression look like a norman rockwell painting.
I'll give ya this one but not because it's really goin to be WORSE, it's because people are less-prepared to cope. Few people have the knowledge required anymore. People freak out when the dish-washer doesn't work, they can't nuke supper in a bag and call the auto club to change a freakin tire. They don't have a clue how to do things for themselves.....................................
Pam, you've got that one right...The kiddos that I teach give me looks of complete disbelief when I talk about butchering animals or canning garden goods. They also just shake their heads when I describe rotary phones, rabbit ears, roof-top antennaes, etc. Talk about the spoiled generation...I had originally thought that it was my generation, for getting to grow into such luxuries as we have now...But I'm beginning to think that the spoiled generation is that of my children! lol
I agree. Todays younger generation is spoiled. But it really isn't their fault, and we shouldn't talk bad about them. After all, who allowed them to become that way???
Well it sure as hell wasn't me! My kids know pretty much everything I know. I even try to teach other peoples kids.
