Hope you had a happy day yesterday, Kjell, and that you have many more such days. :D
I'm so sorry I missed this! I have been undertaking something new for the O D Channel and it has had me in and out of planes and glued to my computer programming for the past few weeks. I sincerely apologize for not thanking you all for these wonderful greetings.
My birthday was celebrated by family and friends last Saturday with a cookout down at Marks. We had a wonderful time and I put my walker and cane to good use and managed to keep up with all the young ones and was in the last 12 that called it a night. ;D ;D
I quit smoking 2 weeks ago and am on an exercise routine that is only about 1/4 of what I was doing in Norway. But I don't have my beautiful mountains here to climb every weekend, so I am somewhat limited in that area. LOL but all in all the worst of the nicotine battle is hopefully getting less and I will be able to add a few more birthdays to my life list.
Thanks to you ALL for the wonderful Birthday messages. :)
Kjell, you gave yourself a very nice birthday gift! Happy Birthday!
Kjell, good luck with the stopping smoking. I quit 10 years ago after smoking 40 + years and I know it is tough. I have buried 3 sisters that all had emphysema and 2 had lung cancer with it. Those last few weeks and days and hours for people with Emphysema are not a pretty sight. I have no signs of 40+ years of smoking, I am 68 years old and walk all day Quail hunting, mow my yard and walk daily at a 3.3 MPH rate. My cardioligist says I have no signs of Emphysema or Heart damage from it.
Hang in there and you will not regret it.. All smokers should spend time in a Hospice House with people that are in the last days and hours with emphysema. GOOD LUCK
Congratulations on your decision to stop smoking! :-* You have a whole team here willing to backstop you. I think going for the exercise is a great idea. You may not have the beautiful mountains to climb, but you'll save so much money you can afford to go find some mountains on occasion.

You may not have mountains here, but you do have all those rolling hills/Flint Hills and we have all kinds of rocks around here to climb on.
Oh and good luck with the "Quit"
I have been Smoke Free for 8 years 3 months and it was rough. But, worth it.
I can breathe and yes, I did have cancer that was caused from a 33 year history of smoking...........and about 15 or gazillion times of quiting, but I did finally make it.
Today,I am aware of just what kinds of poison that is put in cigarettes to get us hooked on them, and it makes me so mad to realize that it didn't have to happen.
All it takes is one puff to get addicted, and I have to watch, even now, it would only take one puff for me to get back on the nasty habit.....and Praise the Lord, I have made it.
Just for today I will NOT smoke, and God willing for the rest of my life.
Hang in there and just take it minute by minute; if you have trouble with a day to day fight.
You don't have to do it alone.
God help you. and He will[/b]
Why is it that Mothers are always the last to know????
Congratulations, Fred and I both quit in 1986 -- and have never regretted it for one minute.
You can do it --- you are one strong man. ;) ;) ;)
