San Francisco voters will be asked to decide whether to name a city sewage plant in honor of President Bush, after a satiric measure qualified for the November ballot Thursday. The measure, if passed, would rename the Oceanside Water Pollution Control Plant the George W. Bush Sewage Plant.

Some of my fellow Northern Californians have way too much free time on their hands. While I do find this funny and a very innovative way for them to show their displeasure with Bush I really think they could have spent their time on something a little more important.
David
How funny is that! Perhaps there could be a 5 year time limit on the name as is the case with other honors that are renamed after a time... such as was done with Cape Canaveral. I don't care for a lot of what President Bush has done, but he is the president.
Thanks for the chuckle David! ;D ;D Maybe we could build a hospital for STDs and dedicate it to Bill Clinton, or a prison and name it after Richard (I am not a crook) Nixon! There have to be more, think people! Think!
I'm laughing too hard to think...quick...somebody else come up with something!
Now for me to give you a personal thought on this subject. My Dad a proud, native Kansas boy was a Civil Engineer. I spent many a day as a kid sleeping in a blueprint drawer, in a truck out in the middle of nowhere, and even at a sewage treatment plant. If the ballot initiative fails, I may just have to try and get it named after my dad who would be proud of having an award winning innovative sewage treatment plant named after him.
David
David, that Sewage Plant topic broke it, it left everyone speechless.

CatWoman... was that you doing it with BatMan on O'Reilly tonight??? ???
Warph, just so you know, the sewage treatment plant is located in the 20% of San Francisco that is not located in Nancy Pelosi's district. She would never approve of a mental hospital in her neighborhood. I'm sorry, just call it sour grapes. I used to be able to inquire from her office and get a personalized response on important topics. As soon as she became Speaker,"since they could not determine that I was a constituent" of hers, I no longer get her e-mails or newsletter.

SAN FRANCISCO — A measure that aims to keep prostitutes from facing criminal charges has qualified for the November ballot in San Francisco. The measure, which qualified Friday, would bar authorities from spending money to investigate or prosecute prostitutes for engaging in prostitution. A San Francisco first-time offender program that allows men to avoid charges for soliciting a prostitute if they attend a class and pay a fine would also end under the measure. The Erotic Service Providers Union recently announced it had gathered the 12,000 signatures necessary to put the measure on the ballot after failing to get a similar initiative before voters in 2006. Mayor Gavin Newsom says the measure would hurt the city's ability to investigate and prosecute sex-trafficking crimes.
What say you, David? Think it will pass?
Warph, San Francisco has always been extremely tolerant of prostitution. Sometime in the more distant future it may be legalized similar to Nevada with its taxes and rules etc. This measure takes away the spending of money on the control, investigation, and prosecution of sex crimes; that will be a deal breaker. Also, Mayor Gavin Newsome and District Attorney Kamala Harris say NO! and they are the new generation of Democratic power in San Francisco. You will be seeing more of Newsom and Harris in the next few years as they will replace Feinstein and Pelosi. We will all see Gavin Newsome when he runs for President. He is often compared to JFK and that just turns the Democrats on to no end.
David
Good Morning David, anything that replaces Feinstein and/or Pelosi would be a welcome relief. The two most Liberal -Liberal-Liberal-Liberal-Liberal-Liberals in America.
Uncle Frank
Good Morning Uncle Frank. Since we have term limits in California all I can say is get ready Washington, DC here they come. Uncle Frank, you may wish to retract the first part of your statement. I don't think you will be voting for them in the future. ;D
David ;)
I hope not, the only way I would ever have the choice of voting for either of them is if they moved to Oklahoma or they ran for President, GOD FORBID. I do think you should honor them both by naming an outhouse for them, then people could say "I am going to take a Pelosi" or I am going to take a Feinstein".
I predict that you will be placing a vote for someone else when Gavin Newsome runs for President. It would not surprise me if Kamala Harris follows in Pelosi's footsteps so save your best material for the future.
David
David, I don't know if we are paying to much and/or giving to many benefits to the President or if it is because we aren't paying enough or giving enough benefits, in any case we sure aren't getting any good qualified people to run for that office. From what you say it is going to get worse in the future, that is not encouraging for the future I hope for my children and Grandchildren.
I have an ever increasing feeling that in general most of our politicians are increasingly out of touch with the "people". I don't think it will necessarily be worse for future generations just different. I guess we all have to "walk uphill to school, both ways, in the snow." I don't know if campaign reform is the answer, more money, but somehow we need to get people that are more in touch with the reality of life for the average American citizen. I guess we have to all go find a rich heiress or wealthy businessman to help us get into office. I'm really not as cynical as this post sounds. I just think it is a long hard process for change but in the end we will get it done.
David
If I could please interrupt this discussion for a moment...Warph, NO, that was not meow that you saw on something as scurrilous as that dog's show...we felines are more discerning than that! ::) ::)
Gavin Newsome also turns Bill O'Reilly on but in another way.
Uh-oh! ::)

Warph I think I came up with one that you will like. Also, it will get the topic back on political humor.
Nancy Pelosi Erotic Service Providers Union Hall.I think I just combined all the topics on the thread and put a little humor back in.
David
Oh, you are good...very good...your grasp of the English language is fabulous...what are you??? Some kind of English teacher???

(Sorry President Bush the award winning treatment plant will not be named after you, maybe I can get it changed to my dad's name. He was a great civil engineer he\I would be proud to have it named after him)
David I wondered what had happened to the sewage plant dedication. Thanks for the update. I wonder if it would have passed had it been propsed to name it after Nancy Pelosi?
BTW, I have not heard what happened to prop 2, the one about animal treatment. There is currently an article on the front page of MSN website about fast food sources. :P :P :P
And, it is nice to have you back! ;)
"have not heard what happened to prop 2, the one about animal treatment."
I'm obviously not David, but, Prop 2 did pass.
Thanks Bonnie! I am glad of it. 8) 8)

California Proposition 2 did pass as Bonnie said 62% to 38%. It does not go into effect unitl 2015. I think it will be much different than what was passed once that date comes around. While I think many people want better conditions for farm animals I think the necessity and lower cost will be readressed in future propositions. This is a very difficult and complex issue. The pictures of the bad conditions won here. I was very torn on this issue.
