I GOT FIRED!
As many of you know, I had ambitions of finding a simple, uncomplicated part time job after retiring from my 'day job'. Unfortunately, as I have gotten a little older, I have become a little less sensitive. So after landing my new job as a Wal-Mart greeter, a good find for many retirees, I lasted less than a day......
About two hours into my first day on the job a very loud, unattractive, mean-acting woman walked into the store with her t wo kids, yelling obscenities at them all the way through the entrance. As I had been instructed, I said pleasantly, 'Good morning, and welcome to Wal-Mart,. Nice children you have there. Are they twins?'
The ugly woman stopped yelling long enough to say, 'Hell no, they ain't twins. The oldest one's 9, and the other one's 7. Why the hell would you think they're twins? Are you blind, or just stupid?'
So I replied, 'I'm neither blind nor stupid, Ma'am, I just couldn't believe you got laid twice. Have a good day and thank you for shopping at Wal-Mart.'
My supervisor said I probably wasn't cut out for this line of work.

lol funny
Dale, In plan to retire at 75 from my Crude Oil and Natural Gas Marketing and I hope to be a Walmart greeter then. I will try to remember how you handled that situation. That is a good one. I think even Sam Walton would grin at that one.

wasn't me - I never worked at Wallyworld
I am pretty sure that in Georgia, to work as a WalMart Greeter, you have to be pretty surly, nasty, and perpetually in a rotten mood. At least at the 7 WalMarts that are within 10 miles of my house.

guess that means I'll never get to be a wallyworld greeter
Dale, the Walmart Greeters here in Bartlesville are generally really nice older men and woman. Maybe it is a difference in the attitude of the customers they deal with.
Frank
Wichita Walmart Greeters have always been pleasant to me and helpful. Now there is one at Sam's East that is not too pleasant but they have him at the gas center most of the time now. Bet he deals with some complainers there.
Alice, I think it maybe the customers that make the greeters seem rude. Knowing you I am guessing you always have a smile and greet the greeter, and they like that and greet you back. I don't remember you ever not having a smile and a great attitude. You got that from your Mom and Dad. I always, greet the greeters at Walmart and they always have something good to say back and chat for a minute.
