Well, In my opinion this election is a big friggin joke. Since Obama didn't get any votes in Michigan Hillary, give him some of yours and we'll let you count some of em for yourself. GIVE ME A BREAK!! Didn't think that everybody gets to bat thing didn't go much past t-ball games for 4 year olds :P I'm not a fan of either one of them but this thing is goin a little far. Does anybody even consider that if we hadn't let Bush steal his first election we would probably not be in a no win war at this very moment? How many times are the voters gonna let the political establishment screw em, NOT consider who gets the POPULAR vote and orchestrate the election to go the way THEY want it to? Just watch, nobody will say a thing and if they do nobody will pay any attention to em, kinda like the waste of time this post is gonna be but at least my opinion is on record. We deserve what we get if stuff like this is allowed.
Pam, I agree with you. I think all the votes in Florida and Michigan should be counted and not as half votes. Why are we voting if they don't get counted. And it wasn't the voters who decided to hold their primaries early. It was the party's big wigs. Penalize them. Count the votes. I can't say that I favor Hillary over Obama, but the popular vote should count for something. It is the same thing as denying the voters the right to vote.
What can we do about it? I don't know. Unless continuing to shout will help.
I'll voe in the general election, but the whole election thing is a joke. Even the local is a joke. Now that gas is up some ignorant elected official decided I must make a 50 mile round trip to cast my vote. Mail in ballots would be okay if they recieved them in the US mail in time for them to count. Didn't happen at the last election. Kinda like a few people deciding who our sherrif would be before the election.
Florida and Michigan did not play by the agreed to rules established by the Democratic party. The people in those states need to put new people in as their state committee members. If you don't play by the rules you gety penalized. Their vote shouldn't count at all. They were well aware of the rules and the penalty when they held their primary before the agreed to dates.
Frank
Yes you're right Frank but two wrongs DON"T make it right >:( Givin Obama votes he DIDN"T get is a wrong ,period >:( If they are gonna count em count em the way they were cast.
That was why they had that all day DNC meeting yesterday. They wanted to please everybody which is impossible. Had the original rules been followed NONE of the votes would have counted. The DNC voted to make the concessions, and HIllary came out better than she would have should the votes not been counted at all. Had the Obama campaign known that the votes in an illegal primary were to be counted, he would have been on the ballot, and would have campaigned in both Michigan and Florida. Personally, I think Florida should be drummed out of the union; they cannot get it right even after the fiasco with the Bush/Gore contest. I expect that the DNC will have a pretty stringent set of rules next time.
Y'know you all are MISSIN THE POINT!. The point is if you are gonna count the votes COUNT THEM THE WAY THE VOTERS CAST THEM!!!!! I don't care how Hillary came out, I care that votes were given to a person who DIDN"T get them! He took his own name off the ballot of his OWN accord, nobody else. It's his own fault he didn't get any votes, nobody elses. Either count em the way they were cast or don't count em at all. The reason they can't get it right is because the friggin voters won't cooperate, they insist on votin for who THEY want instead of who the party big wigs want.
I am not missing the point! I know that you are unhappy that Obama has received ballots that were not due him. So did Hillary; the contest was invalid. It did not follow democratic rules. I agree, they should not have counted the votes for either state. Donna Brazile had it right when she said that her mama had taught her that when you played with rules and broke those rules, that's cheating. However to try and please the voters, the DNC made the concessions agreed upon by the majority of the 30 members. The Michigan resolution was proposed by the Michigan representation. So we all have had to make concessions so the election can continue. By the way, I think there would not be any difference made even if Obama had not received those votes; he still has the majority of delegates.
I don't care how many delegates Obama or Hillary either one have, cheatin one way doesn't justify cheatin another way and givin Obama votes he didn't get is cheatin. Hillary GOT the votes whether or not the party officials screwed the voters by holdin the election too early. That's a given. Givin some of them to another candidate as a "compromise" is just as big a crock!Cheatin as a compromise is STILL cheatin >:( I don't friggin care who gets the nomination, cause they are both useless as far as I'm concerned. I'm concerned with fair and honest and this deal is neither one >:(
a lot of this could be avoided if they would do away with these "delegates" and let the popular vote elect our politians. Won't happen, but it would be a solution. If popular votes counted, then Kansas could have a say in who is elected. As it is, we're wasting gas, ink and money by voting. I'll vote tho, regardless.
AMEN
If you haven't been scared yet at the thought of Obama or Hillary becoming President... this should do it for you.
http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/06/03/ap-clinton-says-shes-open-to-being-obamas-vp-candidate/
I had a feeling Hillary might end up pushing for the VP spot. Teresa, I am already deeply worried and concerned at the far left liberal philosophy of the two Democrat candidates running. In all my years I have never seen such liberal non-traditional American attitudes and philosophies so close to being nominated as a Presidential Candidate. The leading Democrat is a man that would not even respect the flag and the National Anthem. Those people that keep saying it doesn't make a difference who is President may soon find out how wrong that is. The President has veto power to stop bills and the president can do a lot to get certain bills passed or amended.
Frank
She is going to make Obama play his hole card.
I believe we have seen enough of the are you scared yet videos.. We understand that you are a republican and that you feel you need to put down Obama and Hiliary like most republicans that is what you do when your scared start putting the other party down but what I don't understand is where are your we support McCann videos...... You all keep putting down Obama but have nothing to say about McCann that tells me awhole lot about you...

Well, it isn't about "me"..or "you".. it is about the policies of the candidates. So how you feel about "me"... doesn't have anything to do with the views on The Democrat nominee. I am on film location out of the state right now.. and if I had the time I would put all the McCain vs Obama stats up..but frankly if you are a liberal supporter it wouldn't matter if there was 10 pages.. some just wouldn't "get it".. that is why there are liberals and conservatives. ;)
So actually at this point..even though I am a conservative.. (and have made no bones about it) and you are whatever you are... "we the people" will vote how we will vote... no matter what the other side thinks or does.
And IF you are an Obama supporter.. you have every right to put up anything on this site and on this board that you feel you want to in support of him or against his running mate. And I ..as you do... have every right to agree with it or not.
If you have seen enough ( as you put it) ..my suggestion for you would be to not look at it.
Since you have been reading for some time but are obviously a first time poster, I hope you enjoy the sections of the forum and post and have a good time sharing your thoughts and viewpoints.
I appreciate your honestly in saying what you feel.
Teresa
Don't know about everybody else but I think ALL the candidates are big jokes Stop. Our chances of gettin any good out of this election are slim to none no matter who gets elected. I think Obama is an arrogant wannabe and McCain is just kinda goofy actin. Obama on the good side SAYS he wants to help change things and on McCains good side he's probly the best candidate for the war situation we are in. I'm a registered Democrat and I'm smart enough not to vote party if party sucks. LOL so what does that tell ya about me?

Lol, a politician that changes what he says how refreshing :P
(http://th289.photobucket.com/albums/ll231/pieboytcp/th_Emoticons.gif)
About the only thing everyone agrees on is to disagree it seems.
Ain't that the truth :P
I really think that one of the reasons that the "government" didn't push and back Fred Thompson is because he was "too clean.. and that he couldn't be bought and manipulated.
Candidates that are on the ballot right now has been chosen by higher powers than be than we will ever know about. They are in essence puppets... Doing what the government elite tells them to do.
Kjell and I talked long and hard about it coming down here in the truck. We listened to XM radio and Fox radio most of the way and I really am not ( as most of you believe) a die hard Republican.
I really am an Independent... as there are issues that Republicans are staunchly for that I am not for..
So I keep saying " Out of all the people.. we KNOW that the 2 that were picked are not the best candidates "For the People" .. but they are the best candidates for the "people and big money who run the country's". ;)

and, like it or not, those 2 are who we have to pick from.
Now I'm curious -
Quotethere are issues that Republicans are staunchly for that I am not for..
What are they? ??? ???
QuoteI really am an Independent.
That I truly believe! :D :D :D
As my dear ole Wilson county KS Grandma used to say......."Mighty slim pickins'". ???
y'know I am 48 years old and I have been voting since i was probably 22 or so. I've voted for some that were decent and I've voted for some that turned out to suck. I probly would have voted for Fred Thompson if he had been nominated. I have my own mind and I vote so I think that has earned me the right to discuss debate or argue politics and the changes that I have a pet feelin for. The fact that I'm a free-thinker doesn't make me some radical nutcase out to destroy the establishment. Do you really think that with all the differences of opinion and agendas the room they wrote the constitution in was a calm ,polite tea party with finger sandwiches and yes sir no sir whatever you say sir? Talk about wantin to be a fly on the wall for that one! I value the opinions of everybody on here, some of you have actually made me change my mind about some things and some of you have made me think about why I feel the way I do about some things and made me believe them stronger. I believe government is too big and too corruptable at this point in time. I believe we have no good alternative in this election. I believe in the American people. I believe in the American military. I believe the radical muslims will not stop till we are destroyed or they are. I believe if people would stop being divisive over color, sex, religion, etc. we could change the world for the better. i'm just as guilty of it as anybody else is,here in this politics forum. I am sorry for that, all I want to do is make people think and push em past their comfort zone somtimes so maybe we can meet in the middle. All I can do is be me and that's that.
I love the Forum and all of the differing views as well. Let's just keep exercising our right to agree and disagree and be thankful we can do it on a Forum like this. If anyone upsets me I'll get over it and I hope anyone I upset will get over it as well. Cause in the end, if push comes to shove, you know we would all stand together to help each other. Thats the Kansas way.
Yes that is the Kansas way and mostly the American way. I have just returned from Kansas City! Pam did you hear me this morning when I greeted (hollered at you) from the east side of the Paseo Bridge in Kansas City Mo? Guess not; didn't hear you holler back! I did think about you though. Hope that you and yours are clear of all the high water!
Now, down to the business at hand. This has indeed and is indeed an historic election, and we are living in interesting times like the old legend says. At best the whole thing is a crap shoot, with the American people between a rock and a hard place. We are trying to maintain a way of life while balancing the oil men, and what looks like a pretty grim future for the economy. Folks on fixed incomes who were already counting pennies must yet again suck it up and figure on eating tuna for yet another meal in the week. Our always desirable dollar has become hardly more than worthless paper. And we have sunk to borrowing from the Chinese. I am appalled! I cannot, will not consider using my vote to continue in any way the regieme that has been in power for the past eight years. A regime that lied to the American people and entered an unwinnable war based on that lie. I have a theory as to why we were entered in that war and may share it some day. God save America!
Perhaps we should work on saving America and rely a little less on God.
Yep we are high and dry, we live in southwest Mo. Little soggy but thats itLol. Nope I didn't hear ya but , Hey backatcha! For once I agree with everything you said! And Sally I agree with you too, ohmygod what's happenin to me!? :o

The only true way to save America is through God. I believe, and I know that this will spark some, but that God has a plan for us all. No matter how hard we try to change it or make our life our own, he is there always. I have seen him work mircles in my life. I have had hard times, and thought that nothing was going to work out, but I just put all my troubles in God's hands. I stopped worrying, but kept praying for him to lead me. And do you know what, he did!!
Angtown, well said and I am sure many if not most of the people on the forum will agree. The trouble with much of the world is that so many have abandon God and they are or will pay for it. I had more but erased it.
Frank
You know there is an old sayin" God helps them who help themselves" If you keep shootin yourself in the foot all the help in the world from God ain't gonna make it heal up. Politicians keep shootin us in the foot, sooner or later we gotta learn to move our feet!
Anybody who has been alive very long has seen God workin, wanna go a few rounds on religion Frank?
OOhhh! Pam, maybe you have been zapped with all those screen pixels! LOL! Nothing wrong with agreeing with someone -----ONCE in awhile! Now if we could just get a few others to loosen up!
Pam, I have heard that saying and I see your point. But my point is that the politicians are shooting themselves and putting this world in hurt because they are taking God out of everything!! The politicians voted to take God out of schools and look at our school systems. Not like when I went to school and sure not like when you went to school. They get those politicians that are in the offices that believe in some other type of God, and look at our world. We are in this mess because of people, not because of God.

I just choose to believe that if I pray hard enough that God will help us. God doesn't always answer our prayers right away, or even in the way that we wish, but there is a reason for the madness happening. I'm really not sure, but I also choose to believe it is because God is teaching us a lesson. There is always lessons in every mistake that is made. I know and understand clearly what you are saying. Everyone has there own opinions and stuff and this is just mine.
Angie I don't disagree with you. They didn't take God out of anything tho. God is still there. And it don't matter what name He or She goes by either, it's still God and Gods still there. The problems in our world are caused more by people thinkin their version is the "right" one than by anything else. There really is no "other type of God", it's all one. The problems ARE caused by people, and with the help of God people can fix em. I also agree that mistakes are lessons in disguise. I know God answers prayers and I know prayers can make a difference:) If we ever all got together on it at one time the sky is the only limit!
One person took God out of the schools and public places and her name was Madalyn Murray
This is true. She hollered till she got it done, I never did understand how she pulled that off.
Well, look what happened to her!

Your right God is still there! I just mean like Flo said about taking God out of schools, I assumed that it was more than one person. You know I see your point and do agree with it. I think that is why I am so totally disgusted about this election. There is not anyone that can convince me that either of the candidates are worthy of votes by us Americans. I feel that I will vote for the one that disguted me the least, but at this point neither come to mind!!!
Angie, you were too young ;D to remember all the hub-bub of Madalyn Murray, but your mother and grandmother would have remembered. Yes, more than one made the final decision, but it was MM that started the whole thing. Being an athiest she did not want her dear son exposed to christianity. In my days at school we respected their rights not to say the Lord's Prayer or the table blessing at lunch time. By the same token they were expected to respect our rights and to be quiet while we had our devotions. Seemed to work out pretty well. By the way, her son didn't follow in her footsteps when he got old enough to make his own decisions about God.
Poor Pam , she had to agree with me. And thanks for getting my point. I certainly didn't mean I didn't believe in God. But I don't believe in laying around waiting on him to make everything good for me, nor do I believe in laying around waiting on the Government to take care of my finances.
I agree about the 1/2 votes everyone should be counted.
Who knows this might being a mystery vote in the end to democrats. (& with some not being counted fairly, that may not be a good thing)
To be honest, I am not fond of either candidate running.

Just how much Senate experience does Barack Obama have in terms of actual work days? Not Much.
From the time Barack Obama was sworn in as a United State Senator, to the time he announced he was forming a Presidential exploratory committee, he logged 143 days of experience in the Senate. That's how many days the Senate was actually in session and working.
After 143 days of work experience, Obama believed he was ready to be Commander In Chief, Leader of the Free World, and fill the shoes of Abraham Lincoln, FDR, JFK and Ronald Reagan.
143 days -- I keep leftovers in my refrigerator longer than that.
In contrast, John McCain's 26 years in Congress, 22 years of military service including 1,966 days in captivity as a POW in Hanoi now seem more impressive than ever.
That's wild
Yes, Obama is a young man, and willing to see the future. He uses technology and doesn't have to rely on anyone else to interpret for him information that he gets for himself. He is constantly learning and searching. No, he doesn't know it all but he's willing to learn I bet. Unlike some others.
Jon Favreau is Obama's speech writer..
Favreau has his own team: Adam Frankel, a 26-year-old who worked with Ted Sorensen on his memoirs, and Ben Rhodes, a 30-year-old who worked with Lee Hamilton on the 9/11 commission's report.
Together they had just three weeks to work on Obama's game-changing speech at the Jefferson-Jackson dinner in Iowa and even less time to work on Obama's victory speech last week. Weaving together lines from previous speeches—and even Obama's books—the team now knows the themes and language that reflect the candidate's voice.
Obama can't go into any town meetings and and answer questions directed at him without encountering problems. That is why is stays away from them so much. He is inexperienced puppet on a string manipulated by god only knows who.
I'm not saying there aren't those who are pulling on McCains strings too.( I'm 100% sure of it)..but at least the man has some experience in government. ( He isn't my choice, but I'll vote for him, cause he is the only one who will continue to honor the Constitution of the United States as it was written by our founding fathers..
Everyone single one of Obamas speeches rhetorically continue preaching A Changed World.
Oh we'll get changes all right.. and "We The People..(We the Taxpayer) will be bowing down to the socialistic whims of a Marxist government.
