Doris Swaney died Dec. 6, 2007 at the age of 89.

Doris was bornin Fowler, Kan., May 22, 1919.  She was a graduate of the 1940 class of Wesley School of Nursing.  She lived for many years in the area of Derby.

Services were held at First Presbyterian Church in Derby on Tuesday, Dec. 11.  Internment was in El Paso Cemetery at Derby.  Officiating at the service were Pastor Ben Ray and Pastor Lora Payne.  Lora is the wife of one of Doris' nephews, John Payne of Pueblo, Colo.  Casket bearers were Russell Payne, Reed Harrison, Frank Swaney, Kelly Harrison, mark mcClusky, and Paul Harrison.

Doris had many interests, and one we enjoyed with her was fly fishing in Colorado.

Among the survivors are her chidlren, Michael Swaney of Ann Arbor, Mich., Pat Swaney of Derby, Kathy Swaney of Grand Prairie, Texas, Peggy Johnson of Derby, sister Elsie Schoon of Peoria, Ill., James Harrison of Odessa, Texas and Herb Harrison of Howard, and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Strangely, the home where she andher husbnad, Millard, lived for many years and where they raised their children burned Thursday, Dec. 13.  It was then known as Wildwood Farm and many were remembering happy times there as they gathered after Doris' service.
