Happy New Year, Everyone. What is your resolution for the new year??? Mine is getting everything unpack and put away from my move in June of 2007.
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
When my wife and I were first married, she would ask every year what resolution I was going to make for the new year. After a few years of trying to come up with something that I could possibly keep, I gave up. That year my resolution was------------I was never going to make a New Year resolution again! And that is the only resolution I have kept. Happy New Year!!!! larryj ;)
I Figure if I don't make a resolution then I will NOT break it.
so what you see is what you get.
Me.....!!!! AS IS.

Here's wishing you all a wonderful and safe New Year's Eve and a better 2008!
Happy New Year to all who participate in the forum. I have certainly enjoyed your company these past months, and am looking forward to ought 8! ;D ;D I especially enjoy the history items that all of you buffs have posted! Keep 'em coming! This is not my original home, but it is nice to know about where I live. I appreciate all the gaming, and the sharp folks who participate in that, and the current events also. It is nice to know that I am not the only person with opinions that are unpopular with the media. I miss Kermit! Does anyone know what has become of him? Waldo, I especially enjoyed your article on railroads in the Flint Hills paper. Diane, I love your humor and your fantastic intelligence! it is a pleasure to read your posts. Judy, I hope your health improves, and you are able to move freely. Jo, you should be ashamed griping about the humidity! LOL! ;D ;D I envy you, I bet the birds are fantastic!
Well all, I have a load of laundry to fold, then I'll break out the chip and dip in preparation. I have many blessings to be thankful for this past year, the most recent is the near recovery for hubby. He was dangerously ill, but is getting better all the time. And the last great blessing; we have a small Italian Greyhound along with six other dogs. He is especially close to me, so you can imagine how broken hearted I was last night when he didn't come in with the others from the last potty break. He is very shy, and wouldn't take up with anyone so I imagined the worst. I walked and drove the streets till four this morning, and didn't go to bed till after five. I didn't find him along the road or evidence of coyotes, but I thought that was what had happened to him. I got up this morning and started looking again, just no sign at all. It was close to noon when I gave up and went home. I pulled into the yard just in time to see hubby come to the front door, and there was Onie, coming around the side of the house! Tickled to death to be home. I bawled and bawled; the other dogs were all over him, and was he happy to be home. He was cold and filthy dirty, and hungry; a little chapped where his hair is thin, but I don't think there will be any lasting problems. Haven't a clue where he'd been or what had happened, I just thank God he's home safe.
SOOOOOOOO-----HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!!
Thank God your baby is home!! It is such a helpless feeling when you can't find them. When I came through town in October I stopped at your house and knocked at the door. (I wanted to see if you had any antiques or old photos, I remembered seeing a sign in your yard one time), anyway, there was no answer but all the dogs were barking. I got such a kick out of looking up and seeing a couple of little dogs looking down at me. I assume they were on a stair case. Anyway, Happy New Year to All!
I'm so sorry I missed you Roma. Next time call me first and I will make sure I'm there. In October I was probably in Kansas City with Ted. That is when he was having such a hard time. I spent many days sitting in intensive care and many nights waiting beside the phone, just in case. Kansas City isn't the best place to be by yourself, however I stayed in a little hostel run by this couple that cater to folks who are using K.U. Med Center, or have folks in there. They fixed me up with a one bedroom apartment with all the ammenities, coffee, ice, candy, books, puzzles. Just like home, or a close facsimile. God bless, give your babies a pat from me and I wish you a special Happy New Year!
Let me be the first to officially wish everyone a happy January 1, 2008, from here on the east coast.
Happy New Year from Greenwood County.
And, Happy New Year from Escondido! It is now 12:20 a.m., 1/1/2008! We had a nice evening of playing cards with our daughter and son-in-law. (We're "wild and crazy folks!")
"there was Onie, coming around the side of the house!"
What a true blessing that your "Onie" found his way home! I love stories with happy endings!
My hope for all of us is to stay healthy in 2008!
Hey Bonnie, how neat was that. Happy New Year greetings from coast to coast. I'll bet there aren't too many forums that did it!
Happy New Year to all from EDMOND, OKLAHOMA!!!! May 2008 be a year of happiness and good health for all!!!!
Happy New Years from here in Longton, Kansas
I just finished watching the Rose Bowl Parade and
I almost wish I could be there in that crowd.
If I were there I would want to be right on the outset of the
parade........and good weather...LOL......I want it all if I go!!!!
Just hanging the rest of the day. Hopefully this cold wind will turn
itself off and maybe I will walk later. Not to bad with the cabin fever,
the sun is out and that always makes me feel good.
Be well and enjoy the rest of the day.
Hugs and God bless

Hi to all! The sun is out at last and the Mummers finally started mumming down the street in usual "Two Street" fashion. ;D It's 53 here...perfect for the parade. Now, Mrs. Six, it's been a pleasure to know you and thank you for the kind comments. I am hardly the brightest bulb in the chandelier, but I can fake it pretty well ! ;D. As for Kermit, he is just fine. I hear from him off line and he is busy with some of his own websites. I don't know if we can entice him back or not. My New Year's resolutions include trying not to be so much of a blabbermouth, trying hard not to hurt anyone's feelings and practicing my typing. I'm getting a little better at typing, but being totally self taught, well, what can I say. I promise to keep up with my house work better and I'll try to keep up with the weeding in my flower beds. (The seed catalogs are arriving and I'm drooling over everything I want to try.) I'll continue with the fire company of course, I have several CPR classes to teach later in the month. I want to improve my computer skills. I desperately need to lose weight and the forum does help with that. I snack less if I get on here to see what my forum family is doing. I'm going to go undecorate my tree now and do the Mummers' Strut around the family room. See ya!
My, how ambitious you are. I need to make all the same resolutions, but I'm gonna give myself a break. Then if I get any of them right, I'm ahead, right?  So happy to know that Kermit is okay, I was afraisd he was having a medical problem. Busy is acceptable! I love the seed catalogs also, and try to contain my enthusiasm. Pretty soon I have more than I have time to care for or can afford to water. Mummers would freeze here today; it's 30 degrees with a strong north wind. Brrr----!!! Later!
Good aftrnoon on this New Year's Day! I love this kind of a day. I've "lazied" around all morning! We actually started watching T. V. about 7:00 a.m., as that's a good time to see the news people going around and interviewing all of the people involved with the Rose parade, the bands, etc. It's hard to imagine how much work goes into making one of their floats, all covered with flowers, or something associated with plant life. I went to the parade once, it was just great! My only problem was the length of lines for the "port-a-pots." But, you know it's going to be that way, so, we just do the best we can do. One year not long ago we went to Pasadena with our Church group on the day after the parade, and they have all of the floats parked in a huge parking lot and people can walk around and view the floats. Each float has people assigned to it, who will be happy to tell you all about the building of the float, etc. Many of the animated floats are "in action," it was really nice. The flowers continue looking good for several days after the parade.
Yes, Diane, we "covered" the "Happy New Year" last night from Sea to Shining Sea! Escondido hosts a "First Night" celebration on New Year's Eve, and from what I've heard and read about it, last night was very successful. The weather was beautiful. This is an alcohol free family affair, and it's a very popular event.
I will go back to doing nothing, and enjoy what's left of the day!
My mother and I watched the Rose Bowl parade then watch three episodes of "That's Entertainment" with all the musicals and stars that were in them. I especially like watching Gene Kelly, Fred Alstair and Judy Garland. There were several movies that I not heard of but would like to watch them.
Lazy day here as well. It was a good day for Missouri. One of our local college's (MSU), headed the Rose Bowl Parade and the University won the Cotton Bowl, so I had a good excuse for laying on the couch all day watching TV. I kept thinking about how good the food would be at my friends open house and all the people I would see that I hadn't seen for several months. However, none of that was enough to get me into the shower and out of the house. Hope I am more motivated tomorrow!!
Bonnie, I always wondered what became of the floats after the parade. That is so nice that people can see them later. Eventually I suppose they take them all apart again. I wonder what they do with the kazillion wilted flowers? Compost them?
One of the "Dirty Jobs" episodes on the Discovery Channel had Mike Rowe, the host, tearing into some of the floats from a past year to dismantle them. I cannot recall if anything was composted but the vegetation was rather ripe.
As "green" as California is, I imagine they have figured out some way to compost the vegetation, and I would imagine that would sure enough be a "dirty job!" It's sort of like, we forget that "what goes up, must come down!"
It was interesting that the year we went was the year Nebraska played in the Rose Bowl game. We have friends, originally from Longton, Kenton and Marcia Baughman, who live in Nebraska and flew out for the game. They were also viewing the floats the day we were, and they saw us, and said "We know you!" What a pleasant surprise that was! There were thousands of people moving around viewing the floats, so that was a bonus for us! "It's a small world, after all!"
I missed that one. PU! ;D
My mom amd her friend used to 'watch' the Rose Parade together over the telephone. Both lived alone, and found that unique way to enjoy the parade without having to go out. I thought that was pretty neat!
That would take some "paying attention to!" Should be fun.
