Hi, Henry is still losing some blood somewhere. His hemogoblin keeps dropping. He has had 2 units of blood but they are not wanting to give him any more if they do not have to.
He is on oxgen and if he is off his sat rate goes into the 50's.
Tomorrow they are doing more x-rays. If the bones have stayed in the place they were they will not have surgery.
Thankss for al lyour prayers.Marjean
Marjean, thank you for the update. Terrell and I just learned the news today after returning to Wichita. We're so sorry to hear of his accident and we will keep you both in our thoughts and prayers. Lynne
Marjean,
I know all the Forum, as well as other folks around, here are keeping you guys in our prayers. Please do keep us informed!
Joanna & Marty
Marjean, please tell Henry that Frank and I are keeping him in our thoughts and prayers. Your family has certainly had more than its share of accidents and sadness. Please tell him "hello" from an old schoolmate. I'll try to get a card in the mail too.
Myrna
It goes without saying ( but I will anyway) that Kjell and I send the old scalleywag a heavy dose of strength and we want him to know that we are thinking of him.
Tell him he can not collect on that massage I owe him if he keeps banging himself up like he keeps doing. ;)
Give him a hug from me and tell him to hurry and get well.. :)
Has anyone heard anything more about how Henry is doing?
Marjean,
Tell Henry there are prayers and thoughts coming all the way from Iraq for his quick recovery. Like everyone else keep us posted.
Love and Prayers
Rex & Jane
I have been told he has some internal bleeding and they are trying to find out where it is.
Myrna
Well I can't imagine someone going through what he went through and NOT have internal bleeding and damage .
That man, in my opinion is darn lucky to be alive.
I wouldn't be surprised if his bleeding is from the pelvic fractures. A lot of our blood supply is born in those big pelvic plates. Hopefully by now it has stopped. Crush injuries bleed too, of course. Pelvic damage right where the head of the femur fits into the socket can be a little tricky, but most commonly bed rest is the key. Prayers from me too.
Good morning everyone, thank you so much for all the thing you have done. The prayers , cards, phone calls nice little things in the mail and most of all your love.
When I left at midnight he had settled down a little. Earlier in the evening his oxygen was down in the 80's with it running at 4 liters. Turning it up to 6 got him back up in the 90"s and a breating treatment. It is so hard to watch him breathe so hard. Alot of the time is does alright, night time seems to bring it on. He is still not eatting. They have him on ice chips. He says all that is wrong is that he needs coffeee and Pepsi.!!!
Thank you all again. It is time to go releave our daughter Jodi. Jena stayed with him the night before. Thank the good Lord for kids!!!!
You tell Henry to hang in there and get well! We miss him!
Henry was moved this evening from the regular floor to MICU. The nurses there are one to every three patients. So we feel he will be getting better care. The goal is to get his bowels to moving , so the bile and gas in his stomach will flow rhough and take the pressure off his lungs so he can breathe better.
Thank you alll for your prayers, Marjean and Henry
Aw, poor guy. He really did get squished. More prayers immediately from here. He'll need a lot of support.
I received an email last night with an updated address for Henry, he's moved back to the 4th floor. Apparently they've not got his innards all back on track and working yet. Just a reiminder for us all to keep Henry & Marjean in our thoughts & prayers.

A Christmas wish for Henry is being uploaded as I write. We need you, Henry.
Keep fighting.
I just talked to Marjean on the phone, and she reports as follows:
Henry has been transferred to Our Lady of Lourdes Rehab Hospital. All of the tubes have been disconnected, and he is no longer needing oxygen. His intestines are functioning well. He walked with a walker today and even tried the stairs. Because of his strong upper body strength, the doctors predict he may be released in a week or so to go home. Of course, he still will have a long period of healing, but things are looking up and they have been blessed by this amount of progress.
He loves getting mail, and his new address is:

That is great news! Prayers for his continued recovery.
We just got a short e-mail message from Henry telling us the same information I posted last night. It's great that he is able to be corresponding again via the computer. Things are looking up for him!!!!!
Since you seem to have two threads going, thought I'd use this one as you are on the mend. It's nice to know you are healed enough to be back on the forum. The skunks can stay on the other one. ;D It sounds like you are making significant positive progress on healing from a nasty injury. Prayers continue for a speedy recovery.
Henry,
When you get better, can you post a small spiel as to what happened from your perspective?
What was going through your mind just before and when your wife came driving up, etc?
We visited Henry at the Rehab Hospital on Friday and he was making great progress. He was supposed to meet with the bone doctor today (Monday), and if everything was going well, he might be coming home on Tuesday. As of Friday, he was not allowed any weight on his right leg so was using the walker to get to the bathroom and the wheelchair for moving around the facility.
Several good Howard citizens chopped and delivered four ricks of wood to Henry and Marjean's yard this weekend to help them out with their wood stove when they arrive home. Undoubtedly they will have additional needs until Henry is up and running. All of you who have offered to help out in any way can probably make good on your offers, and I'm sure they appreciate all of your concern.
What great news. It's always so great to see people pull together to help each other. Those good old Kansas roots.
You people are so good to each other. It makes me proud to have Kansas blood in my veins. Keep up the good work! :)
:) :) :) :) :) :) Well got home today, nice to be in my own home. Can only put 25% weight on right foot, not much.I what to thank everybody for the nice cards, telephone calls and visits while I was in hospital and rehab.
Henry
God's blessing were bestowed upon you and Marjean, Henry. So great to learn that you are home and hopefully will soon be 100 %.
Up and going strong again.
Glad you are home Henry! :)
When Mark and Derek was getting your bed downstairs and all set up for you, they said you were in fine spirits., and seemed to be getting around pretty good.
My comment on that was "Tell me a time when you haven't seen Henry Jacobs smiling and laughing with you".
**I am sure Marjean can tell us plenty of times... ::)
Buuuuttttt we will keep those family secrets in the closet where they belong.. and keep your sunny reputation intact! ** ;D ;D
Welcome home.... What kind of pie do you like?
I will get one made for you and bring it by for a "welcome back home" present.
Henry, just be nice.
Accept Teresa's pie and play like you're going to eat it.
She'll never know. You can dispose of it later.
We've all done that a few times.
Glad you are home, Henry. I hope the healing goes well.

Who do you think you are kidding~~ You are just jealous that I am not offering to make you a pie.. and Don't throw it away Henry.. cause Rudy will be probably lurking around your trash bucket if you do.. LOL
He has requested a peach or cherry... So peach or cherry it is. :-*
That's my girl --- always in the kitchen thinking of something nice to bake and take to someone.
Savor every bite, Henry --- brag a little and probably she will ask if you would like a loaf of her wonderful home made bread.
Anyway it would be worth a try.
Hey.. It's Henry's choice here...
I can make him a loaf of bread, or cinnamon rolls or a pie.. or some biscuits.. or I can fry him some chicken...
whatever he wants.
But I think he deserves something yummy for surviving his accident.
(( So.. ? guess I will leave it up to you Henry)) Name your taste...
I love to cook, so any of it is no problem for me to do..

I'm waiting.................................................
I don't know about you, Henry. Sounds like you've got an awful lot of
girlfriends in Howard. Does Marjean know about these offers of pie,
cinnamon rolls and welcome-home hugs?
Lucky guy.
Hey, Henry, Teresa's not the only one who can cook. I can make you a very nice batch of WOP biscuits, if you like. ;D
:) :) :) ;D ;D Good morning fellow forum people. All offers of goodies are welcome, yes Marjean knows about all the goodies. I am getting along good. Some excrises at home for now. Can only put 25% weight on right foot, So I use a walker to get around. Go to my family docotor the 15th to check in, maybe can get off some of this med.
Later Henry
Henry, glad you are home. Do your therapy as you are supposed to do. You know, you might just ask for all of the goodies that has been offered! Be nice to your nurse too.
Myrna
Greetings to Henry and Marjean! So happy to hear you are on the mend, however slowly. Everything takes time, and sometimes baby steps to get where we want to be. The best news is that every step adds something important to our experience. You've been in our thoughts and prayers all along.
