Title: Prayer Request
Post by: sixdogsmom on September 08, 2007, 02:15:22 PM
I think this topic would be a good category unto itself. Many of us pray for the sick and needy on a daily basis. We all know that prayer works! It would be nice to have a special place to post and/or read prayer requests. Just this morning I received a request for prayers from my e-friend in Tupelo Mississippi. She is a kindergarten level teacher for mentally challenged children. One of her pupils is two years into leukemia. His name is Wesley Wood, and he has been given two months to live. Janet says he is suffering severe pain. We have a great many powerful prayer warriors in Elk county as well as throughout the country. Surely we can take a little time from our jokes and wonderful conversations to pray for comfort for Wesley, his family and his teacher. Thank you and blessings, Edie.

We will offer prayers for Wesley and his family, plus the teachers and the other children that have been in Wesley's life.  Thank you for starting this thread.  We have needed this thread for a long time.

I also think you have offered a wonderful suggestion for a prayer category.  I will put Wesley in my prayers and offer them to any praying groups that I encounter.  God Bless you for suggesting it.

New prayer request

Please pray for Bill Watkins.  Bill is the husband of Sharle' Carter Watkins, the Elk County District Court Clerk.  Bill and Shae' used to live south of Moline, but moved to Howard when Bill sold the property that housed his mechanic business.

Bill is having surgery tomorrow to remove a kidney that has a tumor in it.  This tumor is cancer, I believe, but it has been caught early and the doctors believe everything will go fine.  Please keep these two in your prayers.  This surgery will take place at Via-Christi St. Francis in Wichita.

Learned this morning that Melbe Tindle is going to have part of a foot removed sometime this week.
Had a sore that wouldn't heal and this is the result.

They didn't say which day the surgery will be, but please keep her as well as Joe in your prayers.
If it isn't one thing it is another with them. Good people!!!!.

Thank you for your prayers. I will add to mine the wishes added here.
Hugs and God bless.

I didn't know Bill had the tumor.. Thanks for posting that.
I will light a healing green candle and let it burn for him on that day.

Melba Tindle will go on my prayer list today.  She has had such a tough time every since that horrible accident way back when.  We should pray for Joe also as this has to be a trying time for him, too.

I went to call on Melba Tindle yesterday in the Independence hospital.  She was having a hard time, but accepted a prayer said for her.  My heart goes out to her as it sounds like she has been through quite a big.  Please keep her on your prayer list.

We might also keep Rex Bantz and his wife, Liz in our prayers as Rex is facing more surgery in the near future.  No details as of yet.

I heard today from my pastor, Dave Sanchez,  that Joyce Fell has Breast cancer.

Lets keep her and Doug in our prayers, also.

She has dealt with cancer before, so the worry will be double.

Hugs and God bless,
Judy

Frank will be checking in to the hospital on Thursday about 5:00 A.M. for back surgery.  This will be his second back surgery.  Please put him in your prayers and also the surgeon as well.  We have a lot of confidence in the surgeon and feel that eveyrthing will go well, but would appreciate it if you would remember him.

Thanks,
Myrna

May all of our prayers be answered for all those that have requested them.
I have been wondering about Bill Watkins.. does any one have an update on him?
Frank and Myrna, may your prayers be answered and Frank can be pain free again.

I am including everyone on the prayer list in my thoughts and prayers.

Has anyone heard anymore from Rex Bantz?

I have heard just today that yesterday they removed some fluid from his lungs as he was quite conjested and having trouble getting comfortable.  Not able to do a whole lot of talking due to the surgery and will probably remain in ICU at least another 5 days if not more.  They did have him sitting up in a chair as of Sunday. Liz is staying pretty close to him and to my knowledge has only been home once.

I haven't heard anything about Bill Watkins, but I know that Shae' is back at work.  I'll send her an e-mail and find out.

Prayers go out for Frank and especially Myrna.  Sometimes I think it is harder on the spouse when the other one is ill or having surgery.

Thank all of you for your prayers, my prayers are for little Brody and his family, being a father, grandfather  and an uncle I can't imagine the pain that his family feels, I hope the Good Lord will hold him safe and keep him from pain. I talked to Rex Bantz's brother-in-law, about Rex and and my prayers are for him, Rex has been a lifelong friend, I was best man at his wedding  and he was best man at mine. and ther is no better friend to have. I am prepared for my surgery, have lots of confidence in the surgeon and the procedures they are going to perform, and I have my Myrna right by me every minute which is where she has been for the past 44 years.

God, in our hearts, we name those men, women, and children who are now suffering from physical, emotional, or spiritual illness and pain. We join our prayers with the prayers of all who love them. Give them renewed comfort and courage.

Strengthen in them the healing powers You have placed within us all. Guide the hands and hearts of those who are entrusted with their care.

May the knowledge of Your love, God, as well as our love, give added hope to them and to their dear ones. May they find even greater strength in the assurance that our prayers are linked with theirs.

Frank's surgery went well yesterday.  Dr. said the surgery would probably be 1 1/2 - 2 hrs.  Well, it was 3 hrs. and then another hr. in recovery.  He is still in a lot of pain, but that is to be expected.  He really is doing very well, considering all that was done.
We sincerely thank all of you for your prayers and ask that you continue to pray for recovery and also for the staff here at the hospital.  We are hoping he will be dismissed on Monday, but time will tell.  We continue to keep all the requests in our prayers.

Myrna

Thanks for checking in. While I was waiting for Al, I sent prayers your way. There were all kinds of prayers bouncing around that family waiting area, as there were some really serious procedures going on at the same time. I'm so glad things went well for Frank. Of course everyone is different, but on average it seems most people make big jumps in healing every three days. The day after surgery usually feels the worst, when the body suddenly realizes it's been slapped around some. Then the next day the body gets busy and says, "enough of this nonsense, let's get the healing going on."  Hope he will be able to come home on Monday. Prayers continue. Say "hello" from all of us, of course. Take it easy yourself also. These things are tiring on everyone.

I have been thinking about you both and praying.

I'm glad Frank's surgery went well.  Tell him we are still praying for him and I hope he gets to get up and walk soon.  I think that is number one in healing.  Tell him to keep smiling and we will pray for the staff at the hospital.

Frank was up and walked a couple of times yesterday with the PT's.  Also sat up in a chair a couple of times for about 1 1/2 hrs. total time.  The OC was in and worked with him yesterday.  Today, the PT's will only come once.  He is still in a lot of pain, but we feel he is doing better as each day goes by.  Again, we thank you for all of your prayers.  We are praying for all that have been put on the thread.

We are hoping that we will get to go home Monday, but at this time, that is just a guess from when we last visited with the Dr.
Certainly don't want to go too soon.  We thought this surgery might not be as bad as the first one was, but it was more complex after the Dr. got into it.  The MRI didn't show everything.  But, again, we are thankful for good Drs. and all of your prayers.

Myrna

Hi, I was just thinking about you. Thanks for the update. Al is a bit more sore today that we had hoped, but he's being very brave about it. He just can't get comfortbale. Get some rest yourself too! These things are hard on everybody for awhile.

Please say a prayer for the family of little Wesley Wood. Wesley went to be with our lord on Friday morning. God bless all those caring folks who sent a prayer for this little guy. Blessings, Edie.

Ted and I could use a prayer ourselves. We went for a laproscopic gall bladder surgery on Thursday and the procedure ended up being a major surgery. We spent two days in recovery because the hospital was too full to have a room for us. Because of Teds' heart transplant, he is required to have a private room. I came home yesterday to catch up here and get some clothes. I will probably be heading back tomorrow. Travel prayers would be appreciated by me. Blessings, Edie.

So sorry to hear about Wesley.  He is at peace.  Prayers for his family will continue.  Losing a child or grandchild goes right to the heart and soul.

Prayers for both you and Ted.  Two days in recovery had to be almost unbearable.  A hour is plenty.  How far do you travel?

Remember-  God never puts any person in a space too small to grow in.  (You will appreciate your full sized room.)

Thank goodness people's emotional hearts have no bounds and can stretch to infinity. I'm so sorry to hear that little Wesley is gone. I know it was expected, but it so terrible none the less. That family will need support for quite some time. Edie and Ted, I take it the gallbladder was too fragile to be taken out the "new" way. Al had his taken out years ago before they had developed the laparoscopic technique and was in for 5 days. I know how miserable that can be. Lots of prayers and healing thoughts are heading your way from here in the east.

Today is the 1st. anniversary of the Amish school girls' massacre in nearby Pa. Some of the boys ,who weren't touched, are having a hard time with survivor's guilt and some are still trying to figure out if there was something they should have tried to do to stop the gunman. One little girl is permanently disabled with terrible brain damage, can't talk or take care of herself. A little prayer for those gentle people would be appreciated.
