Title: Grand Opening of Highway 99
Post by: emptynest on July 09, 2007, 10:14:26 PM
On Monday, July 30 at 12 noon, there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony for the official opening of Highway 99 which has been under construction for the last 2 years.  KDOT has announced that they will conducting this organized event between Washington Street (known to several as"superslab") and Michigan street, which puts the ribbon almost in front of David and Peggy Criger's home.  Traffic will be stopped as the ribbon, which will be held across the highway by none other than our City Clerk Kay Howell and job supervisor/husband, Lee Howell.  There will be a press release coming out shortly----but forum friends need to be informed as soon as possible.   I think we should release balloons or something; I just hope there are plans to do something symbolic and fun.   So mark your calendars.........

Can any one tell me what the speed limit is going to be? The last we heard once the work signs were down it would be 65.

I hadn't realized that they'd changed the speed limit to 65 until today when I was driving to Howard from Severy. I went to the co-op this morning, and on my way to the bank in Howard, everyone was passing me on the highway. I was thinking...what in the world? Why is everyone going faster than me? Then I get on down the road and see the new speed limit sign. Sheesh...No wonder everyone was passing the girl in the old feedtruck.  :)

I have no idea.  I have driven it every day this week and I didn't notice a change.  Yeah.  I'll start driving 65.

Two weeks ago this Friday I had to go to Sedan and the speed limit was 55mph from Severy to Howard.  On the way home the speed limit was 65mph from Howard to Severy.  Just thought you guys were in a hurry for me to get out of your county! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Yeah, Sally.  That was it.  We hid as you drove south, then rushed right out and changed all the signs and then told each other, "That will show that ole' Signer woman!"  Ha ha
