Patricia Cress, age 96, of Howard, Kansas, passed away on October 9, 2026 at the Eureka Nursing Center in Eureka, Kansas.  She was born March 2, 1930 in Deerfield, Ohio, the daughter of Earl and Elizabeth (Jones) Sutcliffe.

Perhaps all of her children are prejudiced, but they felt Patricia was an awesome mother.  She was a great cook and baker.  She and her husband, Bill, had several restaurants over the years.  One of those was a popular truck stop, and truckers don't just eat anywhere.  She worked hard during her working years and enjoyed traveling with her friends in retirement.  Though she spent her last years in Kansas, she longed for and missed Arizona.  She will certainly be missed, but we celebrate her being with the Lord and the happy reunion she is having with relatives and friends in Heaven as she had often expressed that desire for the future.

Survivors include her children, Tonna (Dan) Hines, Charles (Marilyn) Burger, Lindsey Burger, and Wendy (Don) Cross; grandchildren, Tina (John) Smith, Alyssa Burger, Andrew Burger, Angela (Scott) Lindell, Jean (Jesse) Tuck, John Sauer, Jeremy Sauer, Christina (Jeff) Slocum, Casey (Sheryn) Burger, R.J. Burger, Jennifer (Lon) Koningsor, Melissa (Ben) Schaper, and Melinda (Darin) Myers; and numerous great-grandchildren.  Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Suzanne Burger; and her siblings, Joy Kennedy and Gene Sutcliffe.

Cremation has been requested, and a Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at the Severy Church of the Nazarene.  Memorials in her memory have been suggested to the Severy Church of the Nazarene and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.countrysidefh.com.  Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, Kansas 67349.
