Some anti-gun zealots contend that the 2nd amendment does not apply to modern semi-auto firearms because in 1791 when the Bill of Rights was ratified they had not been invented. If that flawed logic was applied to 1st amendment rights of free speech and freedom of the press it would mean that telephones, TV, internet, i-pods, fax machines, typewriters, computers, and modern high speed printing presses are not protected.
