Title: Meteorite Falls In Farmer's Yard
Post by: genealogynut on February 22, 2007, 01:41:58 PM
Howard Courant

Severyite:  F. M. Knight and fmaily were awakened last night by a great light; the yard was lighter than if a number of electric lights had been placed in the yard.  Looking out at the window, Mr. Knight discovered a fire in the orchard, calling the boys, they went out and extinguished the fire, when they discovered the fire had been started by a meteorite which fell there.

It is very unusual to find a meteorite as large as this one, which weighs just twelve pounds.

Are there any records or stories of what became of the meteorite?  Did the family keep it, discard it, exhibit it, donate it for study?????

At the moment, all that I know about the meteorite is what is posted.  I had printed off something else, and just happened to get that on the same page.  When looking over my stash of material, I seen that and thought it sounded interesting, so I "slapped" it on here!  Maybe (if we're lucky)and someone else happens to be industrious they will do some research on that
