Iola Register, September 8, 1877

The post office in Boston had to have been on the north side of main street [Valley Road] to be in Elk County.

The south side of main street was in Chautauqua County. Further south of main is the cemetery with around 30 grave sites.

Boston was located close to 1.25 miles west of 99 highway on Valley road or the county line.   You might miss it as nothing is there but tall grass.    The school at Boston was moved to Belknap.  That was the last building.

Sorry, I might have implied that something might still be there.

Here is an aerial of Valley Road, which divides Elk on the north and Chautauqua on the south.

On K-99, turn west on Valley Road for one mile. Boston began somewhere at a point west of Road 13. Nothing is there as the buildings in Boston were slowly moved or disassembled and moved to other towns in the area.

To the south of Valley Road is the cemetery, the darkened square. Boston was, more or less, a catholic town. Many of the graves were moved to the Moline catholic cemetery but there are around 30 still there. The last burial was in 1904.

The Boston cemetery is on private land and there is no access.

I have a newspaper photo of the school somewhere around here. Will try to find and post. The school was a centerpiece of the Boston War. After the Boston raid on Elk Falls, a ringing school bell was the signal to townsmen and and farmers close around to come quick if riders were seen approaching Boston. Sentries were posted for that purpose.

I think it would be nice if somehow signs were made and put up by places like Boston, Leeds, Cloverdale and others
