$2,700 in 1911 is equivalent to $66,340 in 2017 dollars.
i wonder if they were caught?
The bunch had robbed banks in Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Arkansas, and Oklahoma, around fifteen in all.
No information on how they were caught but they were being held in Marysville, Ks, pending trial. Two including the ring leader escaped. The others were sentenced to prison. Marysville is the county seat of Marshall County on the Nebraska border.
The escapees were traced by Pinkerton Detectives to a hideout in the Boston Mountains in Arkansas.
They were held in Little Rock and then extradited back to Marysville, Ks around September 1912.
I don't know what happened at Marysville or if anyone ever stood trial in Elk County as so many jurisdictions were involved.
Very interesting Waldo. Thanks.
