Over the weekend, I spoke at the Whiteville, NC SCV Camp. During Q&A after my presentation, one gentleman posed the following question..."Of all the great moments that the Va Flaggers have experienced, what is your PERSONAL FAVORITE... a moment when you just knew liberal heads were exploding...?" As of today, I have a new answer to that question...THIS PHOTO!

Today, at the annual Veterans Day service at the Virginia War Memorial, wreaths were laid by local Sons of Confederate Veterans Camps in memory of our Confederate Veterans. In this photo, a Veteran of color, is seen helping another Veteran of color place one of the wreaths, while our Confederate Battle Flag-hating Governor stands just a few feet away.

A friend described it best...fighting men respect other fighting men....period.

Today's service, and this photo, are striking reminders of the fact that when left alone and not influenced by the ignorance and hate of meddlesome Yankees and self-loathing scalawags, we, the people of the South, have no trouble showing respect for one another.

God bless ALL of our Veterans...and God Save the South!

The South was right.  The South was in defense of the Constitution of the uSA.  The north was not - the north changed the uSA.  As for Trump, he's pretty much a NE yankee type and so is Hillary, but hopefully Trump is not as bad as Hillary.

Did you notice the flag the Roof kid was holding in several photos?  So sick! Does it make you proud?

It ought make folks sick that young people, black and white, have been indoctrinated in government schools.   This has been the case since the War Between the States.

You and members of the KKK have been influenced by government schools.  You're both wrong.

   

How would you suggest that young people be taught arithmetic and higher math if not by "indoctrination."They still have to memorize. Didn't you take Geometry,  Advanced Algebra, Chemistry etc?     and no, I think not teaching cursive is wrong.

Why should Americans ever allow government to operate schools to teach their "stuff"?
The Soviets had it their way in "their" schools too.  Community organizing = Tyranny.

The Gov't IS people. It is not a separate thing. The Gov't. can't be patriotic unless the people are. Schools were/are headed by Gov't. because by putting everyone's tax money together it went further. People have always had other options too. You know I have always been a cheerleader for well done home schooling...and Charter Schools, if you know how they are different.

D- Do I hear the sounds of the hogslop the education and political systems spoon feed to us as Hoyle? After elections the last few cycles I think a lot of people are onto the smoke and mirrors. If government in this country started as 'of and by the people', it changed. It is no longer so. It is government of money. Those people 'elected' to government get there with huge sums of money from Foundations just like the Clintons', from wealthy people like Soros, from PACs, from special interest groups with lobbyists, from Wall Street, from International Bankers. It's unlikely it is even American money that elects people to government in our country, or in our more populated states. And 'our' elected officials do not serve us, they serve the sources of the money. And in that process we are enslaved a little more each election cycle; a few more coerced taxes, more homeland security rules, less government service for the dollar spent, more laws, more police, more criminal records, more penal institutions, more war machinery, student scores on standardized testing mostly decreasing on an annual basis, certainly on a generational basis, ad nauseam.

When government formed in this country, the House was set up on a 1:30,000 rule, one representative for every 30,000 people. That was considered reasonable representative government, government of the people and by the people. What do we have today, 435 people representing approximately 300 million people? That's about 1:700,000. Government of and by the people is a mirage, it's long gone, has been for years. Even representative government is a myth.

On a local level where much fewer dollars are involved, we have also lost government of and by the people. About a year ago, the elected officials of a little community in Elk County became worried when a new landowner was feared to be installing multiple trailers on six or eight lots, just a block off the main street, and across the street from one of the nicer homes in town. Without input from the residents, five people rescinded the old code and installed new code, allowing a second mobile home only to property that had more than 15 or 18 contiguous lots (I forget the actual number, but it is more than 14). Five people did that; one of those "I propose, I second, I second, all in favor say aye, all against say nay" situations. It passed five to zip and was codified and published within two weeks. So without a vote of the residents, without any input, five people passed a law that effectively bars a resident of a trailer from installing a second trailer on his/her property as rental/retirement income. Unless they have sufficient contiguous lots. And one look at the community plat map shows the sufficient number of lots is rarely possible with present land ownership.

That is NOT government of or by the people. It is government by the special interests, the community elites. It is government against the people. And it is the single biggest problem this country faces. And Trump will not make it any better.

We elect our overseers.  Been that way since the Republican military victory in 1865.  They let us vote but we live under their rules even though we have a good dose of Democratic Socialism for us to chose more government for them to command us so some of us can worship the nanny state for themselves.

By the way, planning and zoning is another socialist venture into America.  Fortunately, that has not been introduced into Elk County - yet.

Wake Up... do you have any codes or zoning to restrict mobile homes as to density? Perhaps due to septic system life and safe water/or systerns/ wells? Just interested, as I know how it is here.

Kansas has a statewide planning and zoning ordinance. Interestingly, only 55 of Kansas' 105 counties have implemented it (as of 2009, the most recent data I could find). I tried sorting through all the legalese to see why the code appears to be voluntary, or only becomes required at a certain population or density level. I didn't find anything to explain why it is not, or not yet, uniformly applied in the State. Maybe another reader will know.

Elk County has not adopted the State ordinance, neither have Chautauqua and Crowley, but other counties around us have. Local communities within the counties may adopt the ordinance, apparently even if the county does not.

The trailer ordinance I was referring to says, in part, "No more than one trailer home, mobile home, modular home, or manufactured home may be located within an area equal to the size of fifteen contiguous city lots." The smallest city lot is 22' x 158'. Fifteen of those is 1.2 acres. So more than 1.2 acres is needed for two trailers. Now that is what might be called 'large lot' development. So large in fact, I doubt you will find that size of zoning in your neck of the woods in any city, unless it is an exclusive development.

The same little community that is biased against trailers also has a minimum housing code ordinance. It says nothing about minimum lot size, or minimum square footage for a stick frame home. From the publicly accessible city code I have seen, a builder could place a home on each 22' x 158' lot he owned. They could be stacked against each other like row houses, because the code does not make reference to lot line setbacks in any way.

The local code is an example of government run willy-nilly, with zero consideration for fairness to its residents, much less listening to what all the residents may desire. As an example, a family is moving a trailer next to an abandoned house on four city lots. The house is crooked and falling in. The trailer doesn't look much better. The city is allowing the trailer to be placed in the front yard of the house. Close inspection shows the trailer is overhanging the sidewalk, i.e., it is partly on city right-of-way. That's all good and well? But a second trailer on less than 1.2 acres is not?

When code cannot be justly and uniformly applied with the consent of all the community residents, it should not be implemented by the communities few elites.

Planning and zoning is socialist,  Soviets had it.  Governmet planners should not be allowed, except to their individual business and with their own money.

Ross, I don't recall rubbing the lamp and calling you up. It is boring. So is Trump's juvenile petty whining. Get on with something interesting, and Trump should stop his whining and be presidential. I was hoping for more. You  elected a fascist and he is already earning the name.

But, you must admit he has an incredible, sarcastic sense of humor to tweet, regarding the women marching, "Why didn't all these people vote?" LOL at that one. I imagine more than a few Depends were moistened on the streets of DC following that tweet!

 W.I suspect most of those marchers did vote. I might as well not have bothered. Little Delaware is so small, we could have all stayed home, saved the gas getting to a polling place and the electoral college would never have noticed. But, we did produce a Vice President who got a huge welcome home here on Friday afternoon. I'm afraid most of  Trump's  biting "humor" is lost on most people. It comes off as belittling and snobby. He is a terrible braggart and wouldn't know the real conservative truth if it bit him.  His "exaggerations'' may come back on him yet.  His habit of saying anything and then wanting a redo should be beneath him.
Sadly, I can understand why he appeals to the country's underbelly. He is a very good con man. (No, I didn't vote for Hillary.) It's early days yet...we'll see what happens. He doesn't seem to respect the Constitution at all. By the way, his wife's clothes for the day were outstanding! I hate to think what they cost, but they were beautiful and perfect for the day....and Saturday also.

D- We may have to disagree on what America's underbelly is. In my mind, a lot of Trump's support came from the dwindling middle class and the hard working rural communities. The red and blue colored county-based map of the vote across the country pretty well supports that. I don't call that sector of Americans the underbelly. I know the big city elitists do, so does the press, so do many government employees who believe themselves to be elitists.

In my mind the underbelly of America is composed of State and Federal employees who somehow justify their paper shuffling, non-productivity jobs while sucking the hind teat of funds coerced by them from hardworking taxpayers. There is the underbelly of America, they are the real bottom feeders. They somehow believe they have a 'right' to the fruit of other peoples' labor. I hope Trump sets them straight. I pray someone sets them straight.

But Trump is an interesting dynamic. He is probably everything you've said he is. America has elected the school playground bully to the Oval Office. Stand by for his aggressive behavior. Bullies usually stay the course until dispatched by a bigger, stronger one. Or until some young babe with a big smile shakes her bootie and winks. Oops, that's already happened. Yes, she has a style that today's divas absolutely miss, are apparently incapable of even dreaming about. She reminds me of Grace Kelly. What the H does she see in him?

Good heavens.The rural folks are hardly the countries underbelly! I'm a country girl too, grew up in the country but transplanted to town as an adult. I mean the bullies and the "I've got mine, but I'll keep you from having yours" people. We've since sold it all, but had ranch land in several parts of Kansas at one time.

Charlottesville City Council Votes to Violate Virginia Law

Monday night, the possible fate of the Robert E. Lee monument in Charlottesville was decided by THREE people. The destruction of the memorial has been a dream of Councilman Kristen Szakos for years. She first brought up removal in 2012, but it was not until she found a soulmate in disgraced Vice-Mayor Wes Bellamy that she was finally able to put her evil plan into motion. She has pushed the false narrative of connecting white supremacy, racism, and slavery to the Robert E. Lee monument to the point of making false statements about the Klan attending the unveiling.

The monument is not going anywhere, but because of her, the city of Charlottesville will waste hundreds of thousands of dollars and valuable resources in a failed attempt to tear it down.

Szakos introduced the motion to tear down the monument, and voted to break the Va State law that thankfully protects our memorials from the PC revisionism she is attempting to force upon the city.
