Title: Rutabago patch
Post by: ddurbin on February 04, 2007, 08:42:33 AM
from THE MOLINE MERCURY  July 21, 1882

Some persons traveling from Boston to Moline have a habit of tearing out the hedge and leaving it that way at Frank Webbs Rutabago patch, so that cattle can get into the corn and millet.  Frank says he don't care for the rutabagos they get, but if they have any respect for themselves or any one else, they might close the fence after them.
