"These jobs aren't a fad, they're good jobs and sources of pride we need to fight for," said President Obama, who has spent time recently traversing the Midwest giving speeches in front of windmills.

A practical review to be sure. Even today, I see stone fences falling apart in various places right here in Elk County. They, too, are decaying symbols of an era when government 'created' jobs. They are also headstones marking the end result of government being relied upon to be the 'great provider'. Surely there are some of our citizenry who remember the cold war era when America went in the direction of private sector innovation and growth and our nemesis, the USSR, followed the path of government 'planning', subsidy and top down control of virtually every aspect of the lives of her citizens.
Is that really the direction we want to go?
Those who refuse to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
