This may be an old wives tale, but I drink a glass of water right before getting into bed, and THEN sleep on my left side for about 20 minutes. Its like the water neutralizes the acid in my stomach.
I sleep straight through (until I have to pee) however, I do not suffer from indegestion and sleep good!

I have a huge glass by my bed and I drink it every time I wake up to turn over ( or to hit the bathroom) :) . By morning, its usually gone..
I keep a flip straw sports bottle by mine...works great for same reason.
