Title: Direct Deposit
Post by: W. Gray on April 15, 2012, 11:55:07 AM
I thought this had already happened but starting next year in March there won't be any further checks mailed for Social Security payments. Other government payments will be affected also.

As it turns out, 90 percent of Social Security recipients dont get a check and have their benefit payments received by direct deposit in their bank account.

The other 10 percent will have to get a bank or credit union checking checking or get a Debit card to receive their payments.

When I was working, I started direct deposit of my pay check in 1968, when very few people did it or even realized that it could be done.

Damn Waldo, Where did you come up with any money to deposit in 1968 ? After buying shoe polish and Brasso I don't recall any money being left. Oh yea, you are a lot older than me and probably had a pud job by "68". :D

I remember those days--and I was broke within a week from payday, if not sooner.

I don't remember if I had a choice about the SS payment going by check or direct deposit.  I just went to direct deposit.

Jarhead, my stomach is churning!!!!!!!!!!!!  Carling Black Label........I remember we used to put the CBL cans in the space between the window and the screen in the wintertime to keep it cold when we were living in quonset huts.  I remember promising myself when I got back to the world, I would never touch that stuff again.

Thanks for the (ugh) memory.
