Title: It's Fire Prevention Week
Post by: Diane Amberg on October 10, 2011, 09:36:24 AM
This year's national theme is "Protect Your Family From Fire."  We should be doing that every day anyway of course.
As the weather becomes colder and we close up our homes and turn on the heat, the number of house fires always increases. We decorate more, cook more ,party more and some do drink more.
Be sure your smoke detectors are still working, with good batteries, and aren't more than 10 years old.
Check around for damaged electric cords, plugs and overloaded outlets.
If you are a candle user, be extra careful. Last year candles were the third leading cause of home injuries.
Night time fires, when people are asleep, are the worst. Be sure you know how to get out two different ways. Practice with your children so they know exactly what you want them to do and where their meeting place is outside. Be sure they know how to call for help.
How many more good fire safety tips can you think of?
