Post by: Jo McDonald on September 20, 2011, 08:58:38 AM
Short & Direct:
From a Marine friend...Short and sweet...and to the point.

The Navy SEALS removed one Muslim threat to America ...
It's up to the voters to remove the other!

Origin of Left & Right?

I have often wondered why it is that Conservatives are called the "right" and
Liberals are called the "left."

By chance I stumbled upon this verse in the Bible:

" The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left ."
Ecclesiastes 10:2 (NIV)

Thus sayeth the Lord.  Amen.

Can't get any simpler than that.

Now that's awesome. Can't believe I haven't noticed that one before.

And, if my pyramidology memory serves, the word 'sinister' finds origins in the ancient  Egyptian word for 'left'.

But...according to anatomical position, the apex of the human heart is tipped to the left as it sits in the center of the chest. That's why we have less lung on the left side,to make room for it.

If we're going to make the stretch to equate human anatomy with spiritual matters, then the literal heart of man should be seen as left leaning (see my earlier reference to sinister):

Gen 6:5    And GOD saw that the wickedness of man [was] great in the earth, and [that] every imagination of the thoughts of his heart [was] only evil continually.  (KJV)
