The cost savings are critical.... we gotta have enough money left over to pay for generous govt employee wages and benefits, ya know.  That big rock is showing up all over the place.  Of course, it could just be a lack of common sense.

everyone needs to start sending the bill for tires to the county!  It does no good to put gravel down if you can't drive down it!

That might feel good, but I doubt that the bureaucrats much care... they are specialists in wasting OPM (Other Peoples Money).

You know i lived off of gravel roads most of my life.  Back where i grew up we used granite which if it wasn't crushed properly would shred tires like razor blades.  I don't for the life of me see how these folks that produce the gravel can't produce it so that it doesn't destroy tires.  There is no reason to put 2 1/2" rock on a road unless your filling super soft spots.  Then you dig out that spot down a ways fill it with a bucket of gravel, then a bucket of earth ect until its filled. Then compact it and top it with a quality crushed rock.  Shoot if ya even got it fairly stable, you can then come over it with crush n run.  Build a road right and you don't have to go back and patch it every week.

Well Good News, Idaho and wisconsin are headed in the right direction.   Love the fact that idaho eliminated tenure for new hires and are implementing performance based pay for their teachers!
Gotta love the way the senate passed the wisconsin bill when the democrats refused to do their job. Now the dems are rushing back to wisconsin to try and save the day ROTFLMBO.  Now what needs to happen is for the law enforcement to wait for them to cross state lines and arrest them to bring them in.

I would think with the rain the big rock wouldn't be to bad about now. I know that the road that I live on is a very well traveled road and it was super muddy yesterday. I almost got stuck actually in my van and that doesn't happen very often. We could use a load of gravel on the road. I am sure in time we will get some. I guess I don't mind as much as you all, I know what to expect of all the years that I have lived in the country. I know I will have flat tires, roads won't be perfect, and all. I was born and raised in Severy and the city streets there were like country roads, so it sure doesn't bother me. I choose to live in Howard and in the country. I would think that you guys would know by now that it is much better than living in the city!!!
