To the students and faculty of our high school:
I am your new principal, and honored to be so. There is no greater calling than to teach young people.
I would like to apprise you of some important changes coming to our school. I am making these changes because I am convinced that most of the ideas that have dominated public education in America have worked against you, against your teachers and against our country.
First, this school will no longer honor race or ethnicity. I could not care less if your racial makeup is black, brown, red, yellow or white. I could not care less if your origins are African, Latin American, Asian or European, or if your ancestors arrived here on the Mayflower or on slave ships.
The only identity I care about, the only one this school will recognize, is your individual identity -- your character, your scholarship, your humanity. And the only national identity this school will care about is American. This is an American public school, and American public schools were created to make better Americans.
If you wish to affirm an ethnic, racial or religious identity through school, you will have to go elsewhere. We will end all ethnicity-, race- and non-American nationality-based celebrations. They undermine the motto of America, one of its three central values -- e pluribus unum, "from many, one." And this school will be guided by America's values.
This includes all after-school clubs. I will not authorize clubs that divide students based on any identities. This includes race, language, religion, sexual orientation or whatever else may become in vogue in a society divided by political correctness.
Your clubs will be based on interests and passions, not blood, ethnic, racial or other physically defined ties. Those clubs just cultivate narcissism -- an unhealthy preoccupation with the self -- while the purpose of education is to get you to think beyond yourself. So we will have clubs that transport you to the wonders and glories of art, music, astronomy, languages you do not already speak, carpentry and more. If the only extracurricular activities you can imagine being interesting in are those based on ethnic, racial or sexual identity, that means that little outside of yourself really interests you.
Second, I am uninterested in whether English is your native language. My only interest in terms of language is that you leave this school speaking and writing English as fluently as possible. The English language has united America's citizens for over 200 years, and it will unite us at this school. It is one of the indispensable reasons this country of immigrants has always come to be one country. And if you leave this school without excellent English language skills, I would be remiss in my duty to ensure that you will be prepared to successfully compete in the American job market. We will learn other languages here -- it is deplorable that most Americans only speak English -- but if you want classes taught in your native language rather than in English, this is not your school.
Third, because I regard learning as a sacred endeavor, everything in this school will reflect learning's elevated status. This means, among other things, that you and your teachers will dress accordingly. Many people in our society dress more formally for Hollywood events than for church or school. These people have their priorities backward. Therefore, there will be a formal dress code at this school.
Fourth, no obscene language will be tolerated anywhere on this school's property -- whether in class, in the hallways or at athletic events. If you can't speak without using the f-word, you can't speak. By obscene language I mean the words banned by the Federal Communications Commission, plus epithets such as "Nigger," even when used by one black student to address another black, or "bitch," even when addressed by a girl to a girlfriend. It is my intent that by the time you leave this school, you will be among the few your age to instinctively distinguish between the elevated and the degraded, the holy and the obscene.
Fifth, we will end all self-esteem programs. In this school, self-esteem will be attained in only one way -- the way people attained it until decided otherwise a generation ago -- by earning it. One immediate consequence is that there will be one valedictorian, not eight.
Sixth, and last, I am reorienting the school toward academics and away from politics and propaganda. No more time will devoted to scaring you about smoking and caffeine, or terrifying you about sexual harassment or global warming. No more semesters will be devoted to condom wearing and teaching you to regard sexual relations as only or primarily a health issue. There will be no more attempts to convince you that you are a victim because you are not white, or not male, or not heterosexual or not Christian. We will have failed if any one of you graduates this school and does not consider yourself inordinately lucky -- to be alive and to be an American.
Now, please stand and join me in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of our country. As many of you do not know the words, your teachers will hand them out to you.
(clap) (clap) (clap)!!!!!! I agree 10000%
I have something else to add... We will no longer except "labels" for childrens bad behaviors. If your child is an undisciplined brat he/she is an undisciplined brat and will be dealt with accordingly.
Why stop with children. Reverse some of these trends in society at large.
I certainly agree with everything said here, but there is no chance in any of that happening in any of our schools.
It all looks good from here, except the ritual of the Pledge of Allegiance which is a socialistic tradition and ought to be discarded.
What's Conservative about the Pledge of Allegiance?
http://www.cato.org/pub_display.php?pub_id=3296
I don't care who wrote it.. and who thinks it was, for what reason..
I like what it says.. I like what it means.. and I like that our people and children say it with the heart of love that they put behind it for our country.. I like the way it makes me feel when I say it.. and I like the pride it instills in us as a whole.. when it is said.
So there! :)
Teresa,
FINALLY we agree on something. :)
::) Ohhh stuff it!
You know you agree with me all the time.. Because I am RIGHT all of the time!
Now.. go back and lay on your blanket in the corner like a good boy.
Yaw-sir Boss Lady---except the padded room they keep me in is round with no corners !!
Oh boy, its a good thing that some dudes a long time ago invented this country where people can do whatever the hell they want to.

Does this mean that the truth will finally be taught, that our students will finally hear the Real history of this country?
QuoteFirst, this school will no longer honor race or ethnicity. I could not care less if your racial makeup is black, brown, red, yellow or white. I could not care less if your origins are African, Latin American, Asian or European, or if your ancestors arrived here on the Mayflower or on slave ships.
Didn't think so.

Yeah, and the Hitler Youth was created to make better Nazis and we all know how well that worked out. But hey, this may acutally be a good thing. Redefining individual identity as to mean how well one conforms to the herd. Yeah revisionism!
QuoteIf you wish to affirm an ethnic, racial or religious identity through school, you will have to go elsewhere. We will end all ethnicity-, race- and non-American nationality-based celebrations. Going elsewhere might be an option for those who can afford it, but for a majority that simply isn't in the cards. But on the bright side at least now cheating, lying, or simply stealing the answers to a test won't be punishable anymore. Afterall, those are core values aren't they?
QuoteThis includes all after-school clubs. I will not authorize clubs that divide students based on any identities. This includes race, language, religion, sexual orientation or whatever else may become in vogue in a society divided by political correctness.
Well, so much for the Boy Scouts then, No more student led prayer groups...

So think for yourself and beyond yourself but supress those things which might help you define what the self is. Unless of course, your "self" fall under the guidlines we set for you. Thank God! Or in this case I guess I should say Thank the State. There for a minute I thought that young people were going to have to figure out who they were for themself.
QuoteSecond, I am uninterested in whether English is your native language. My only interest in terms of language is that you leave this school speaking and writing English as fluently as possible. Finally, some voice of reason.

Great idea! Now those kids that get picked on for being poor will really get a chance to stand out.

Again praises to the State. This must mean that Congress FINALLY passed that "naughty words" list. Oh, and mister principal sir, I just wanted to remind you that the examples you provided are inaccurate. The FCC has only passed a ruling against one of the words you cited, that being the dreaded "F" word. A person can turn on the T.V. to virtually any program (whose guidelines are set by the FCC) and hear the words nigger, bitch, and even goddamn. Just thought I'd point that out.
QuoteFifth, we will end all self-esteem programs. In this school, self-esteem will be attained in only one way -- the way people attained it until decided otherwise a generation ago -- by earning it. One immediate consequence is that there will be one valedictorian, not eight.
Yeah, because the State forbid a young person might have a poor sense of self-esteem based on who they are. Espcially when who or what they are does not meet the herds idea of what a person should be. We are doomed if we allow our children to start thinking that they are important even if their scholastic performance is below their peers.
QuoteSixth, and last, I am reorienting the school toward academics and away from politics and propaganda. No more time will devoted to scaring you about smoking and caffeine, or terrifying you about sexual harassment or global warming. Huh, wait a minute,...if we are reorienting towards academics and away from propaganda then everything you talked about in this little speech goes out the window. Because quite frankly, everything in this entire speech was propaganda. I mean, in a nutshell you said "conform to our standards or get out" how is that not propaganda?
QuoteNow, please stand and join me in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of our country. As many of you do not know the words, your teachers will hand them out to you. [/b]
No thanks, I will not stand up for this. I believe I'll excrise my liberty and think for myself. I'll pass on your propaganda and on your onesided thinking.
Varmit, you seem to use the term propaganda as a pejorative.
Definition of PROPAGANDA
1 capitalized : a congregation of the Roman curia having jurisdiction over missionary territories and related institutions
2: the spreading of ideas, information, or rumor for the purpose of helping or injuring an institution, a cause, or a person
3: ideas, facts, or allegations spread deliberately to further one's cause or to damage an opposing cause; also : a public action having such an effect
If the shoe fits....
I think for myself... ..........................
and I STILL like the Pledge of Allegiance.. :)
So now the truth has become a propaganda tool, is that it Patriot?
Teresa, if that is something of your choosing then good. I just don't think it should be forced, thats all I'm saying.
Why do you think it's "forced?"

Read for meaning Varmit... I said nothing about 'truth' (yours or mine or Teresa's). I said your use of the term propaganda sounded pejorative & then gave a definition of propaganda which shows that your posts, too, could fall within that definition. Shall I define pejorative for you too?.
Propaganda
the spreading of ideas, information, or rumor for the purpose of helping or injuring an institution, a cause, or a person
ideas, facts, or allegations spread deliberately to further one's cause or to damage an opposing cause

You're spot on, Pam.
Absolutely qualified to be called propaganda by definition (with the possible exceptions of people who
openly exhibit stupidity,
display the following behaviors of sheep, or
clearly demonstrate, by their own statements, that they are confused about the topic(s) at hand). As for liberal Fabian Society type socialist progressives, I stand by the mental defect label. Admittedly, a hardened personal bias. So sue me.
But let's be sure we are applying the same meanings to those labels. Just follow the links. Saves on scissors & paste.

Actually, if people are hindering individual liberty, frustrating peaceful coexistence, or are fostering government intrusions into private lives (actions I believe are antithetical to values you've endorsed on this forum), it would seem we have some common enemies.

Sarcasm? Why the back peddle? To avoid potentially harsh criticism in response? C'mon... Have a little more courage, please. You and I both know you said what you meant and meant what you said. Or at least I hope you did. Such is the nature of free & open debate. Hmmm... another of those nasty values (free/open debate) supported & promoted by those wretched, self- indulgent, white, Christian, slave owning, indian killing, land raping, resource wasting, bastards who founded this republic (
THAT was sarcasm). That's OK. Now, your comment really wasn't sarcasm, was it?
Really like the " If I cant dazzle em with brilliance I'll baffle em with bullshit aproach you use.........something you might want to consider.........It takes few words to speak the truth.
