It has been several years, but isn't this about the time of year to pick sandplums? They make the very best jelly! If anyone knows if this is the right time to pick, or where I could find some, I would love to surprise my family at Christmas with jelly.
Sandplums in Kansas are ripe in the middle of the summer. By this time they are all gone and the bushes are bare even of leaves. I don't know what part of the country you are in, but I think I can state with certainty that you won't be finding any sandplums to pick. There might be a few persimmons still on the trees. Seems to me that I used to see them hanging on even after a freeze like we had last night. Am I right about that, Sarge?
No sand plumbs at the end of November !
OOPS, my bad! Thank you for your help. I guess they will have to wait till next year.
