How many recognize this old house in Moline?  What's on the lot today?

That house had several apartments and rooms for rent. In 1966 Dale and I rented the first floor east apartment when we got married. We lived there a year. Paid fifty dollars a month rent with all utility bills paid. Metta and Eddie Barnes owned it and lived in the main part of the house on the first floor. They were very kind people. The upper floor apartment was rented to a teacher, plus rooms on a nightly basis for truckers who hauled rock. The need for rooms to rent was fairly good.
Years later it was torn down and money was raised to build the wonderful Medical Clinic we so enjoy having in Moline.

What a beautiful home that was.  Homes like that tug at my heart, and it makes me sad that "Progress" demands they be destroyed.
Services such as the medical clinic are definitely needed, but still~~~~~~~ there is just something about the Anti-Bellum style homes,
that I find so heart warming and comforting.

  Thanks for posting that picture!

Mama~~ That is what I started to post last night.. but didn't know how to say it without sounding like I didn't want the clinic to be there.. which wasn't the way it was.. but..ohhh you know what I mean..
You said it perfectly..  :)

In this photo it shows the house with the fence still around it and without the addition to the east. Don't know when this all transpired. The photo I have all say the house was owned by a Mrs. Maude Prier before 1900 until her death in 1945. Yes it is very beautiful and very sad it was not preserved. We enjoyed living there.

In what year was it built?
